Recently we have seen an increase in uninjured baby birds brought in to the clinic. We appreciate members of the public trying to help, however we ask that these birds are left alone unless injured or in immediate danger from predators such as dogs or cats.
Please read the image below to see how they can be helped without removing them from the area. If you are unsure whether a baby bird needs your help, please call us for advice before touching it or getting too close.
Also a reminder that it is against the law to attempt to keep these babies without the relevant license, and raising them without the correct education can unfortunately do more harm than good. Your Family Vet has licensed wildlife carers that these birds can go to following a veterinary assessment so they can be properly supported until they are able to be released back into the wild πŸ₯

Imagine being so bored during your own appointment that you sleep for the whole thing!
Adorable little Walter was here for his puppy vaccines and was so calm and relaxed on the exam table that he decided it was nap time, bless him πŸ₯°

It’s Veterinary Nurse & Technologist Awareness Week and today, Thursday, is dedicated to celebrating Small Animal nurses like us!
Yes, from these photos it looks like all we do is cuddle pets and wear them in our jackets from time to time, and to be honest it is one of our favourite things to do.
But as vet nurses, we do so much more for your animals than what you see here. We also run diagnostics, take bloods, monitor anaesthetics, conduct our own appointments/consults, clean up after them (no matter how messy or smelly), administer medications, and we are their voice when we think they’re uncomfortable or in pain.
And yes, sometimes it benefits both us and our patients to have some cuddles and some bonding time, which not only helps us feel better on a ruff day, but also helps them feel more comfortable in the hospital environment.
Everyone you see pictured here is proud to be a dedicated vet nurse for your furry family members 🀍🩺🐾

Our next Puppy School class will run in November and there are still some spots to fill! πŸΎπŸŽ“
If you have recently added a new fluffy little family member, and they are up to date with their initial course of vaccinations, this class is a great way to get them started with obedience and training as well ass lots of education for owners about dog/puppy health, understanding dog behaviour and communication. But also, you get to be surrounded by other cute little puppies and watch your little friend develop a personality as they learn to interact with their classmates, and become used to the vet clinic environment in a positive manner.
If you would like to put your name down, or are seeking further information, please get in touch via phone, email or the contact us form on our website: https://www.yourfamilyvet.com.au/contact-1

If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, please call us on 5381 1996 immediately. If it is after hours, please contact the emergency number given to you on our message bank.
