Topics include:
Fire🔥preparedness – developing your bushfire survival plan/farm fire plan.
Early weaning🐄🐑- practical tips and benefits of adding early weaning to this year’s management practices. If current conditions continue, early weaning is a management option that needs to be considered. Calves and lambs weaned early need to be managed well.

Still rings true - Thank you

A little note of appreciation to all the Rural women out there.

Being a rural woman is special. It requires a number of skill sets - Imagine the job description: homemaker, Mum, bookkeeper including finance, livestock health records, bills, income, wages, stock records, tractor driver, negotiator, councilor, friend, financial adviser, poddy raiser, animal husbandry, rouse-a-bout, es**rt vehicle, musterer, taxi, researcher, business manager, teacher, gate opener, it would be an endless list.
As a rural woman you are either born with it in your veins or drawn to it by love for another or the beautiful vast landscape. In our current conditions the true strength, grit, determination and loving care for others is where the RURAL WOMAN really shines bright.
Tonight as you retire from your busy day take a refreshment (cuppa or soda) out to your veranda and take a moment to reflect on all your achievements, your growth and how you are blazing an amazing trail for the next generation.

What a strange find! Poor little dude

What is the strangest thing you have found in your paddock?

A farmer on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula has rescued a baby seal that was lost in his wheat crop, about three kilometres from the sea! Full story: ab.co/3nKshf9

Ty Kaden said he thought his neighbour was pulling his leg when he called to tell him there was a seal in his paddock near Cowell.

"It was fairly skinny, so it's probably been lost for a while," Mr Kaden said.

"We threw a towel over it and put it in a box in the back of the ute.

"We let it go on the beach, luckily it was high tide so it shuffled off into the water. It looked pretty hungry so hopefully it found some fish to survive."

❓ What should you do if you find a lost seal?

Aaron Machado from the Australian Marine Wildlife Research & Rescue Organisation Inc. (AMWRRO) says while he appreciates people's "good intentions", marine mammals can carry a range of diseases.

Anyone who comes across a seal should contact AMWRRO or the National Parks and Wildlife Service before approaching them to protect both the animal and the individual.

The rescue group receives between 3,000 and 6,000 calls a year regarding long-nosed fur seals.
