🐾 Cherry Eye surgery.
🐶 Hank: Australian Bulldog - 7 Weeks Old
Hank was brought to us by his owner who was concerned with his red weeping eye. Hanks diagnosis was ‘Cherry Eye’.
Cherry Eye is where the tear gland within a dog’s third eyelid prolapses out and appears as a pink lump at the inner corner of the eye. The condition causes irritation and can lead to the eye becoming too dry if the tear gland’s function is affected.
We use a technique called the ‘Pocket Procedure’ to tuck the gland back into place where it can maintain its function and no longer cause irritation.
Hanks surgery was successful and we are happy to report that he is recovering beautifully and is back to his happy cute self. 🐾💛
⚠️ Intestinal obstruction’s are something we see here in the clinic fairly often, which is why we’re reminding you to create safe spaces for your dogs and cats. The worst culprits are pups that think anything and everything is chewable and digestible. The video here indicates that’s far from the case. If your pet has eaten something that cannot pass through their system there are signs (see the slide towards the end of the video) in which case you need urgent vet assistance. 🦜Poly + 🐾 Darcy
This is great footage of two of our patients, Napolean and Darcy.
Darcy is the german shepherd and the video shows how amazing animals are in that play is understood across species.
These two play regularly together and Poly (Napolean) is very serious about his ball, making deep dog growls when he is trying to get Darcy to play.😅

This is Benny, a 2 yr old male rat recovering from severe pneumonia. 😪
He’s gained 40 grams in the past three weeks now that his infection is under control. 😊

🐾 Pippa’s Dental Visit 🐾
Pippa came to us as her owners were concerned about her teeth condition - including what appeared to be a broken canine tooth. We agreed to conduct a teeth clean under general anaesthetic and establish if this broken canine tooth was causing oral pain.
Upon further inspection by Dr Lana, it was clear that Pippa was in pain🥲. The clip here shows Pippa’s full dental experience at IAD and we are pleased to say she is her normal active self! Who wouldn’t feel better without nagging tooth pain.💛
Further explanation of Pippa’s experience is noted below:
🐾 ‘Pre-med’ is an injection of pain relief & light sedative to help our patients be less stressed in hospital and have a smooth general anaesthetic experience.
🐾 ‘Dental charting’ is when our vets examine all of the animals mouth and test the pulp cavity exposure of any damaged teeth. Each tooth is assessed for loose teeth, periodontal disease, etc.
🐾 Teeth are cleaned via ultrasonic scaler and then polished with special pet safe toothpaste.
🐾 ‘Extraction’ involves making a gum flap to expose the bone, burring away the bone and then carefully extracting the tooth. The gum is then sutured.
❗️🦷 Annual dental checks are recommend so that we may treat any issues early and prevent major issues down the track.

🦎 What a day! Never a dull moment at Inverloch Animal Doc.
Today we sadly had to put down a Bluetongued lizard after a dog attack, however, upon further inspection we unexpectedly delivered 10 blue tongue lizard babies.
We took the necessary care to get them out of their sacks and were thrilled when they started gasping for air.
Nine survived and were trying to walk away and bite us within ten or so minutes!! Clever little things. AMAZING.
We then made arrangements to send them off to a wildlife career until they can be released. 💛🦎

Malibu’s beautiful little puppies are getting big!
They visited us for their 7 week vaccination and check up and we couldn’t resist the cuddles! 💛
They are truly magnificent.
