Solar wax melter / repurposing old into useful.
Been busy. Life and work woo! Beeās are not my main income source so they have had to take a back step but itās ok! They have been happily plugging away and buzzing.
They will be moving soon to a different part of the yard so Iāll be on the hunt for a temporary home haha!
Native bees are doing great! Helped a friend get a wild native swarm out of her water meter. Nothing like sitting down on a hot arvo with a cold beverage waiting for bees to find their new home!
And! The slow cooker idea worked a treat! Look at how clean that wax is with minimal effort on my part!
Thank you past me for planting plenty of winter flowering plantsā¦..
The highway is a bit blocked upā¦..
Cleaning the wax I got my jar and a half of honey from (plus other bits of collected over the last while.)
The black muck in the middle is from brood cappings. Every time a baby bee hatches it leaves a little shell in the hole. Once melted, the wax flows out and I can throw away the muck and debris.
