This makes my heart sing 🥰
Its been a process but this afternoon Isaac is up standing and can attach with help. An update on Flo’s heifer is in the comments of my post from this morning.
What I didn’t mention yesterday is I was also missing a second calf but ran out of daylight helping Isaac to look further afield than her paddock. It was a miricle I found her early this morning in a completely different area covered in maggots and burrs. She’ll almost certainly loose a lot of her hair with all this rain and mum not being with her to lick her dry. Will keep you posted once I assess her (and wash the maggots out of my hair)
Next time I won’t keep my going out clothes on to just pop down and see the cows. There turned out to be a fair bit of kneeling in cow poo for me this afternoon. I was out checking my very pregnant recip cow Boo when I almost drove over Isaac. He was barely moving. Looks like BB’s teets were too swollen for him to get his mouth around so he hasn’t been getting milk. He’s now had a full belly. Hopefully tomorrow he will feel stronger and be more interested in trying to suck from his mumma. #cutecow #vagabondhighlands #savedtheday
Flo has had a little heifer calf 🥰We’ve been waiting to see what a Freisian/Angus cross highland look like. I bought these cows as future embryo transfer mums.
Just a few short days into halter training when Emma meets Chip for the first time. She picked up his lead and starts walking him and he just follows. What a good boy 🥰
This tiny girl is pretty special. She is the 5th generation of my original and most favourite cow Lorna. Congratulations Queenie on your first calf. How exciting!
Here’s a little video Haylee did recently showing Cutie and Special’s new owners how to put a halter on. These weaver halters are the best! I also use them with my adult cows with huge horns.
Congratulations Ruby on the safe arrival of your little bull calf. What should we call him?????His dad is a little miniature highland named Splashboy from Miniature Scottish Highland & Galloway Cattle, Australia - Stoneywood Farm. Thanks Kelsie Swan Photography for taking this cute little video and being there for his first steps. What a special moment to capture.
At 12 hours old, all this little man knows is rain. I can’t wait till he’s dry so I can see how fluffy he is.
Congratulations to Honey on the safe arrival of her little calf. I loved hearing what 2 year old Kali thought about it 🥰
