We were recently called to a property in Rosewood, where two hatchling, Eastern Brown Snakes (Pseudonaja textilis) Highly-Venomous, had become completely stuck to fibreglass tape. After a thorough property inspection to give our clients peace of mind, we brought the snakes home to carefully and patiently work on freeing them from the tape.

The removal process was delicate and time-consuming, but we successfully freed both snakes. Once freed, they were taken to the RSPCA for a check-up. Despite being badly stuck, they only sustained minor tail damage. To ensure a full recovery, they were entrusted to Tiarnah from Reptile Rehabilitation Qld Inc (RRQI) for specialized care until they are both given the all-clear for release.

Warning - Do Not Attempt This Yourself

Snake catching is so much more than just capturing and relocating—it often involves rescue, rehabilitation, and care. If you'd like to make a difference, consider volunteering with RRQI by visiting their page and getting involved.

We were called to Regency Downs to relocate what the client thought was a Red-Bellied Black Snake. They’d spotted it eating another snake, snapped a photo, and assumed it was a Red-Belly since they’d seen them there before.
On closer inspection of the picture, we identified it as an Eastern Brown (Pseudonaja textilis) Highly-Venomous. After searching the likely spots with no luck, Kurt was speaking with the client when Nat decided to check out back. She stopped in her tracks—there it was, heading for the house!
As it darted under the house into a greenhouse, Kurt kept its attention while Nat carefully hooked it into the bag. A great team effort, and at 5 feet long, it was an impressive catch!
Things got even more interesting upon release—the snake regurgitated a meal (something we try to avoid). To our surprise, it had consumed a 3-foot Eastern Brown!

Big thanks to Rapid Snake Catchers 24/7 for the referral—we appreciate it!

Hatchling Eastern Brown Relocated from Bundamba

Today, we safely relocated a hatchling Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis), one of Australia’s most venomous species, from a local business in Bundamba.

It’s a common misconception that hatchlings are harmless, but even at this young age, they are just as venomous as adults. Additionally, Eastern Brown Snakes can display a wide range of colours and patterns, making identification tricky. This particular juvenile exhibits the classic appearance most people would find when searching online for juvenile Eastern Browns.

Unfortunately, cases of misidentification often lead to dangerous situations, with untrained individuals risking severe or even fatal bites by attempting to handle snakes.

Remember: If you encounter a snake, your safety is paramount. Leave the handling to trained professionals. It’s not worth risking your life.

We recently relocated this stunning Coastal Carpet Python (Morelia spilota mcdowelli) from behind our client’s pumpkin patch in Redbank Plains.

If you take a closer look at the close-up photo, you’ll notice her eyes appear cloudy or opaque. This is a clear sign that she’s about to shed her skin—a natural process known as ecdysis. During this time, a milky fluid forms between the old and new layers of skin, helping to separate them. The cloudiness in her eyes is caused by this fluid building up under the eye caps, which are part of the outer skin layer.

Shedding is an essential part of a snake’s growth and health, allowing them to get rid of parasites and replace worn skin. It’s a fascinating process and a reminder of how perfectly adapted these creatures are to their environment!
