😎WARNING: Things are heating up today and tomorrow, and into next week! Remember your pets as you start to sweat or sit pretty in air con.

🐶🐱🐹 For domestic pets:
🏡 Check they have ample shade and ventilation all day (remember, the sun moves throughout the day - what's shady in the morning won't be shady at midday or in the afternoon).
💧 Ensure you pet has plenty of access to cool water, in multiple bowls incase one tips over
🌅 Keep your pet walks to sunrise and sunset, if the ground is too hot for you it's too hot for your pet!
🚗 Never leave your dog in a car (a cracked window makes little difference to the temperature) or on a hot ute tray
😎 Add pet appropriate cooling enrichment to their day from frozen pupsicles to a wet towel for them to lie on in a cool and shady spot.

💧 Provide a shallow bowl of water with climbing sticks and/or rocks in a safe place free from potential predators

How is she the last? She also alerts to my Taccardia (significant heart rate changes) she is a special little doggo! I can't believe the right person/family hasn't come along for her yet 😩🙈😭 makes it so much harder to say good bye.

4.5 “Tasks” left to mark and I’ll be a Certified dog trainer 😉 🙂 ….
Than to get my certificate for my Assistance dogs, specialisation!!!
I signed up to do my full time qualification, only to land up in temp accomodation due to storm damages…. And we’re still here 11 months later …. It’s been a wild ride but I’m almost there…. Oh I also did my full puppy culture course and my Badarse breeders full course and my puppy evaluations course and finally my therapy dogs Australia breeder education course…

This may be a nice visual for those still understanding - Assistance dogs, therapy dogs and there Actual roles

If you're unsure of the difference between an 'Assistance Animal' and a 'Therapy dog' used for Animal Assisted Therapy the Revolutionary Assistance Dogs Inc (RAD) summarises it well although technically a therapy dog is a tool a therapist uses... but we are seeing more dogs at schools etc which is great to see. Please be careful….

‼️ URGENT WARNING TO DOG & PUPPY OWNERS ‼️
Across Australia there has been an alarming spike in cases of parvovirus– a highly contagious and often fatal disease affecting dogs and puppies.

Our RSPCA Hospital in Brisbane recently seen a number dogs and puppies with suspected parvovirus from Woodridge and Inala.

We strongly urge all dog owners to 👇
🐶 Ensure your pets are up to date with their vaccinations
👩‍⚕️Seek immediate veterinary assistance if you notice any signs of the virus

The signs to look out for include👇
🐾 Lethargy: Unusual tiredness or lack of energy
🐾 Loss of appetite: Sudden disinterest in food
🐾 Severe or repeated vomiting: Persistent vomiting episodes
🐾 Diarrhoea: Often accompanied by blood in the stool

It's okay to teach your dog no... but it's how you do that that counts... you do not need to smack the dog or tap it on the nose .... just
1- Interrupt the behaviour -clap (can add 'no' as the verbal)
2- Redirect behaviour - give them an alternative (item) or ask something of them (sit, stay) to change their thought pattern away from the behaviour.
3- Reward the desired behaviour- when the behaviour ceases, or a better behaviour is initiated - reward this to increase their motivation to continue to do that better/different behaviour ....

Empower your families and help them help their dogs. Timing if of the essence when it comes to unwanted behavior. You need to interrupt the thought process before it happens.
