This guy. Still on cloud nine after Reacher’s performance yesterday. He is really shaping up to be a great dog. He is only 2 years old and not likely to be at his best for another year or two. Just stoked.

From me and the crew, thank you for your ongoing support this year. I hope you have followed along and that we have brought some smiles and joy to your lives.

These guys bring me so much joy and I really love being able to share their stories with you all.

We have had a big year, getting back into trialling with Roo (the little dog) and Jack Reacher. I wasn’t able to offer as many training sessions to you guys because of our intense trial season, but it was such a worthwhile opportunity, particularly for Reacher. The improvement he showed from his first trial through to the end of the year was pretty exciting.

I have also been busy getting Spook, Punks and Hex started. Punks is showing some great promise and Spook may get me into 3 sheep trialling the way she is shaping up. Hex continues to march to her own beat but I love her guts.

Wilbur continues to be my bestest boy and then of course there is Einstein. It has been a tough couple of months with him but I am grateful he is still around to work on his bucket list. He is such a stoic dog, with the tenacity of his cattle dog character showing through every day.

Anyhoo, thanks for following and supporting us, I am really grateful for all of you. I hope that we can continue to make you smile into the new year and that you all have a safe and happy one!

Thanks again friends,
Rach, Einstein, Wilbur, Roo, Jack Reacher, Punks, Spook & Hex
XOXO

Thank you to Hunter huntershoundimages for the wonderful photos. So grateful that you captured these memories for me!

I haven’t seen him smile that hard for a long time. This is the dog that started it all for me. I am so thankful for him and I am just trying to make the most of the brief time we have left together. We are living in the moment and enjoying every day!

Borrowed time. I have struggled somewhat with Einie’s prognosis following his cluster seizures 3 weeks ago. Given the brain damage he suffered and his deteriorating state, the vets have given us a timeframe of weeks, maybe months.

So, we’re on borrowed time. From all accounts, he probably shouldn’t still be with us. With that in mind we’re working on his bucket list and living with the mantra of here for a good time, not a long time.

I took the big fella with us to our last yard dog trial for the year down at Alex. It was sad for me knowing it was likely his last look at a trial and his last road trip. But… he had an absolute ball. He sat and watched the young dogs trialling, talked Hannah out of her snacks, talked me into a Dagwood dog from the show and camped with me in the caravan.

Now to see what’s next on the bucket list…

Time for some good news from last week…
Dolly (Boo) from the had a run in her first yard dog trial!

As you’ll see, she was a touch sticky and ran out of time, but it was a tough gig for a first timer. She is showing so much promise and it won’t be long before she’s smashing it. Can’t wait to see her next weekend.

Well done to Rob for getting Dolly going so quickly, this is awesome! Not bad for a little dog that has just celebrated her first birthday!

Einie update…
I just want to thank everyone for their kindness and support last week.

Unfortunately given the severity of his seizures on Friday Einie has sustained some brain damage and has deteriorated over the week. We are managing him with medication and for now he is ok.

Just taking it a day at a time and getting in lots of cuddles. Thanks again, your kind words were appreciated ❀️

Yesterday Einstein was very near death and I am truly grateful I listened to my instincts.

I was supposed to go to the Euroa yard dog trials but I decided at the last minute not to go, which was strange because I was all set and Roo and Reach both did really well last weekend at Lancefield.

If I had of gone like I was meant to, today Einie would be gone.

Einie started seizing just before 9am. When I got him to the vet he was cyanotic with his blue tongue hanging out of his head. Cluster seizures. He had 7 seizures (I think) over about an hour. I thought he was gone. The vets managed to stop the seizures and he came back. He pulled through. I don’t know how but he did.

I really thought it was the end for my beautiful blue boy. If I had of gone to the trial, I would’ve just found him in his pen when I got home. Thank goodness for instincts and listening to them. I can’t explain why I didn’t go, but I am so unbelievably happy I didn’t!

A massive shout out to the vets and nurses at Jindera Vet Clinic. They are worth their weight in gold.

We are not out of the woods (some very close monitoring over the weekend) but I am sure grateful to have Einie home, smiling his great big Einie smile ❀️

Some birthday treats to celebrate the Halloween pups turning 1!

Happy birthday to Hex, Punks (Pumpkin) Spook, Wolf, Ryder (previously known as Frank), Beetle, Dolly (previously known as Boo) and Goose!

Such a cracking litter, I’m so happy with the bold little dogs they have become!

We are back from an epic long weekend trialling at Swan Hill and Kerang. Roo did really well over the weekend and seemed to get better with every run she had. She was unlucky at Swan Hill (mostly a result of disobedience so I’m not sure I can actually use the term unlucky) but I was so happy with her efforts at Kerang.

After getting a good handle on her in the Novice I decided to give her a go in the Open. By the time it was her run, average scores were sitting around 73 (obviously scores got better as the day went on). She got around with a 61, not too far off the pace. Given she is a Maiden dog, and never finished an Open before, I was pretty happy with that effort in the Open!

Fingers crossed she can repeat that tomorrow at Illabo…
