2024 sees us embark on our 21st consecutive Equestrian Australia show horse nationals. Great to be back again representing team SA. Going to be a hot one ( 39 degrees predicted tomorrow) for arena familiarization but hopefully cooling down for competition days. Over the years we have been fortunate to breed and/or produce a number of winners/runners up at this prestigious show. This year we have Argyl Composer, progeny of a former Argyl Stud team member (Alington Allegra- shown with Jenni and Edwina Wilkes) and first time nationals contender “Tahitian R” who we show with long time owner Julie Payne. Ironically - Julie’s mare Roxleigh Frederica ( EA national champion /GN champion) foaled as we were en-route to the show. Thanks to the team at home looking after everything.

An early Easter meant we were home in time to wean and get some foals to the SA welsh and riding pony foal show. Great results and thanks to both committees. Supreme champion was taken out by Argyl Astrologer - c**t ( Kensington Royal Red and Blue x Kolbeach Holly’s Star(UK). He is the 17th foal from this super mare and a half sibling to some of the show ring super stars of the current era.
Argyl Marquise ( Kensington Royal Red and Blue x Argyl Diamond) is the first foal of our very well performed mare. She was champion hunter filly foal.
Argyl Straight Flush ( Argyl Stars x Argyl Royal Flush) a very scopey filly that was awarded reserve champion show pony. She was proudly presented at the show by Maison who has done a lot of the handling with this filly and won the best presented riding pony foal.

We had a quick but successful trip over to Battle of the Borders GN qualifier. Thank you to the small but mighty committee that run the show (Suanne Vale).
Tahitian R - ridden by Charlie and owned with Julie Payne was awarded Champion large open hack. A wonderful result for a mare that had her first show late in 2023.
Maison rode Argyl Composer in the large show pony class for a well deserved runner up. Composer is owned with Jenni and Edwina Wilkes and is the first foal out of their mare - Alington Allegra. Maison also rode Owendale Butter Schnapps in her 9-12 rider, child’s and large hunter pony class - being declared champion in all three classes. Schnapps is owned by Peter Hudson and Sean Aylette - we are grateful for their generosity in allowing Maison to campaign her this season.

An added bonus was being there to watch horses we have bred and sold perform so well. Argyl Sequel was r/u in the child’s large show pony class, Argyl Fine Art was runner up in both the child’s and open show Galloway, and Argyl Blueprint was r/u in the child’s hack class.

Champion of champions SA - GN qualifier.
First show for 2024
Twelve months since his first outing under saddle - Argyl Composer is now carrying Maison in both the open and child’s classes. Winning the open large pony class. Great warm up for some interstate trips coming up. Composer is owned in conjunction with Jenni and Edwina Wilkes and is the first foal out of Alington Allegra.
Maison also qualified for her rider 9-12 on Owendale Butter schnapps.
Tahitian R, owned with Julie Payne was ridden by Charlie for r/u in the large open hack. She is still in her first season of competition and we are very happy with her progress.

Only four foals at Argyl Stud for 2023. Two by our young resident stallion Argyl Stars ( Fernleigh Fine Print x Kolbeach Hollys Star (UK)) and two by Kensington Royal Red and Blue owned by Kylie McKinnon. Very happy with them all.
