With the recent rain we have had in town, there has been a huge increase in Parvovirus cases and snake bites 😔
Unfortunately for these pets and their families, this has been a distressing time with many unknowns.
Nurse Mekayla has been involved in Bones' parvovirus treatment, and she has luckily made a recovery and was able to go home ♥

What can you do to reduce the chances of your pet being at risk?
- Vaccinate all dogs and isolate pups until they are fully vaccinated. This means keeping them in your backyard and away from dogs with unknown vaccination status.
- Signs to look out for with Parvovirus include vomiting and bloody diarrhoea and lethargy in unvaccinated dogs.
- Keep cats indoors as much as possible to reduce the risk of coming into contact with snakes.
- Check your backyard often for signs of snakes and any areas they may be able to sneak in.
- Signs to look out for with snakebites include sudden weakness and collapse, vomiting, foaming at the mouth and dilated pupils.

If you have any concerns about your pet and these health concerns, please contact our clinic to get your pet seen as soon as possible.

Charlie is as unimpressed about the scales as most of us are....
But weight is such an important factor in the health of your pet!
Overweight pets are much more likely to suffer from conditions such as joint disease & diabetes.
Did you know that once desexed, many pets put on weight much easier than before?

Pet Dental Health🦷
- What is dental disease? Most dogs and cats will have some form of dental disease by age 3 (imagine not brushing your teeth for that long!🪥).
This can include plaque & tartar build up, fractured teeth and many other conditions that can lead to teeth that may be painful and require extraction.
- What should I look out for? Bad breath, obvious build up on teeth, red gums and pain when eating can all be signs of serious dental disease.
- What can be done to help my pet's dental health? Regular dental checks, diet and brushing are some preventatives you can try at home, in conjunction with dental scale & polishing we offer at the clinic.

If you have any questions or are worried about your pet's teeth, always feel free to give us a call with any questions.
