Is sniffing important on a dog walk?

🐾 Sniffing engages the brain and provides vital mental stimulation.
🌿
🐾 Sniffing can be calming and help reduce stress or anxiety in dogs.
🌿
🐾 Sniffing helps dogs learn about the world around them. For example what animals have been here recently, any male rivals, animals to chase, females on heat, the possibility of food etc.
🌿
🐾 Dogs sniff 5-10 times a second (humans only sniff 1.5 times a second). Sniffing will tire out your dog!

🐾 Dogs LOVE to sniff! And the best sniffing locations are natural environments! Just ask Dede and Choco (pic).💖

Would you like a job where your customers bounce around with glee when they see you?

We’re looking for a dog walker to join our friendly, happy team.
We take groups of dogs for 40 minute adventures on local forest trails (Brisbane’s western suburbs). Much of this time is spent jogging. Our dogs return home happy and tired having had exercise, mental stimulation and the chance to socialise.

We currently have around 180 dogs walking with us each week!
The casual position will be a 4-5hour shift (two dog walks) three to five days per week, with fill-in spots available too. Shifts start at either 7.45am or 12.30pm.

We’re looking for someone who meets ALL the following criteria:
- Is FIT & STRONG, loves trail running, and will be comfortable jogging downhill on bush trails with a group of big dogs.
- Is capable of easily walking & jogging up and down Mt Coot-tha twice in a row.
- Loves dogs and understands the benefits of practicing a positive reinforcement approach.
- Has experience with multiple breeds of dogs including large breeds.
- Can read basic dog body language.
- Can competently and confidently drive a MANUAL van, and is licensed to do so.
- Is comfortable using a GPS app (we map each walk) and taking quality photos with their smart phone during the walks.
- Is an efficient, reliable and motivated worker.
