I got to meet Dexter today a rescue from Wagga Staffy kelpie mix. A typical rescue quite anxious not wanting to let his humans out of his sight not liking his crate or being left home alone.
It never ceases to amaze me how the dogs adjust after learning some leadership stuff

Evie a 2yr old kelpie/bc/koolie mix reactive with cars bikes and dogs being a working dog she is more inclined this way so needs a job to do to help manage her reactivity. Her companion Baxter the collie loves playing ball

Had the pleasure of meeting Chief a very handsome 10week old French Bulldog and his lovely owners today
We covered the basics that all puppies need with a focus on the importance of crate training. This puppy is one cute little guy 💙

5 yr old Ozzie the Collie is frightened of trams and the beepy noise at pedestrian crossings. When dogs are genuinely afraid of objects or sounds it’s not something that can be fixed straight away. Ozzie did very well with the beepy pedestrian crossing noise and with his leash pulling. His owner has the tools to work with Ozzie’s fear of the trams. 💙

Bella is a 3 and 1/2 yr old kelpie/ shepherd mix the first 3yrs of her life were spent in her backyard with another dog very little structure or walks basically left to her own devices. Her new owner has had her 4 months Bella has been becoming increasingly leash reactive with other dogs. Happy to say we had some big improvements and her owner has plenty of homework to do and the tools to know how to manage it 💛

Mike the 11week old west Highland White Terrier pup started his basic puppy training. It’s always a challenge for owners who live in high rise apartments and a challenge for me as well. often the training I do also includes assessing where the dog lives and to offer advice on creating a more dog friendly home environment Mike is so cute 💙

Scout is a 15 week old lilac coloured border collie look at her beautiful blue eyes. She chews and digs which is normal for puppies so I addressed how to manage these issues, also how to manage puppy nipping of children and starting basic obedience commands. A delightful little girl and her owner is doing a great job with her training 💜

Guinness the bordoodle pup is full of mischief as you can see when I visited him he wasn’t going to sit and pose for the camera. He is a little too interested in the chickens so is a work in progress

Got to spend time with 17 week old Bonnie the border collie today. I reminded her owners that for most people they don’t get a puppy until their old dog has gone to heaven so we forget how much work puppies are and how destructive they can be if left to their own devices. A pleasure to spend time with Bonnie and her family today 💛

Meet Iki the 12 month kelpie he gets excited when visitors arrive jumping and nipping. When I arrived he tried lots of tricks to get my attention but none of them worked. He is a lovely soft kelpie 💙

I currently have a 5 month old kelpie pup in my care who has had very little human contact. So she is untrusting of people and timid. She was also being beaten up by her siblings and is quite small and resource Guards her food. So she is confined to a pen with a drag leash on so I don’t have to grab her. I hand feed her rather than out of the bowl to gain her trust. I also give her treats with my crew so she can learn about sharing. Resource guarding is not permitted with my dogs. I have just started gentle pull and release with the leash she is given a treat when there is no pressure on the leash. Trick is in the timing of allowing her to gain trust but not dictating to me when she is ready to come in. She needs walking mental stimulation and socialisation. Sorry but no photo permitted as per Rescue rules.

Snakes are well and truly on the move.
Rodent mesh attached to the outside of your fence and dug into the ground can help keep them out. Also take your dog to snake avoidance training

Had a lovely training session with Milla the 5 month old French Bulldog pictured here having a sleep after her training session. Her lovely owner has done a great job with her training and just needed a few things tweaked 😊

Fostering a gorgeous kelpie at the moment (photo not permitted by rescue group)
He removes washing off the line and last night I left him out of the crate for half hour and he’d collected 4 shoes out of my robe lol did I growl at him? No I didn’t catch him in the act. Best way to fix this is Prevention ie I won’t be hanging the washing out if I can’t monitor him and while inside he will be in his crate. He is very cute and beautiful temperament 🐕

If you are thinking of getting a new dog the pounds are overflowing and the kill rate is high. I guess all those covid dogs are getting annoying. Breaks my heart consider a pound pup

A visit to Altona dog beach and dog park. Yes there is always risk taking your dogs to these open dog spaces but I have to say the calibre of people and dogs was friendly and sociable. My daughter 4 dogs and the golden retriever had a fun day out and everyone including myself slept very well last night
