🐱🐶Ticks are a hazard all year round and checking your pets daily for ticks can be a life saver. Take the time to check those ‘hidden’ places like under the collar, between toes and inside their ears.

If you find a tick on your pet, or they start to show symptoms of tick paralysis ACT FAST - Take them to your local vet immediately.

⚠️If you see any of the following symptoms in your pet, don't delay vet treatment⚠️
🐾Vomiting or gagging
🐾Difficulty breathing
🐾Dry cough or change in bark or meow
🐾Unsteady, staggering walk
🐾Disinterest in food
🐾Hind leg paralysis

Some cats and dogs do not show the typical hind limb paralysis at first. Initially they may only exhibit a gurgling, choking cough, however their condition will quickly deteriorate.

✅BE SMART - Protect your pet with tick prevention.

RSPCA QLD recommend and use Elanco Credelio Plus and Seresto collars. We stock this along with chewables, shampoos and rinses RSPCA World for Pets rspcaworldforpets.com.au. Talk to your vet for the best option for your pet.

Easter is only a week away so we thought it might be a nice friendly reminder on the common foods we see this time of year and which ones are harmful to our 4 legged pets.

CHOCOLATE
Chocolate contains caffeine and the chemical compound ‘theobromine’, which are toxic to pets. This is because cats’ and dogs’ digestive systems can’t break them down in the same way as humans. The chemicals build up and can cause organ disease and failure if not treated.

GRAPES/SULTANAS/RAISINS (EVEN HOT CROSS BUNS)
Consumption of grapes, sultanas or raisins can develop into life-threatening kidney injury.

It's important to know what signs to look for if you think they have consumed something they shouldn't of these can include (but not limited to) Vomiting, Diarrhoea and Seizures. Make yourself familiar with the 24hr emergency vet hospitals that are close to you and put their number on your fridge (or phone).

It's a time for family & friends get together but be sure to keep an eye on your beloved pets to make sure they aren't up to no good. Keep Easter Treats out of reach & stored in a safe spot where they cannot access them. If you are planning on having an Easter Egg Hunt with the kids, make sure your dog is supervised and cannot get to any of the eggs.

Most of all, enjoy this beautiful time with your family & loved ones.

This is something everyone should see. This xray is of a 2 week old puppy.

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown - around 12-18 months depending on their breed, you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

I shall
Gather up
All the lost souls
That wander this earth
All the ones that are alone
All the ones that are broken
All the ones that never really fitted in
I shall gather them all up
And together we shall find our home

This picture is of Camberley Kate, who was well known in Camberley as the lady who would wander the streets with her “stray dogs” cart and gather up all the waifs and strays. It is said that during her life she rescued and gave a loving home to over 600 homeless dogs.
Today, I’m honouring this inspirational lady who devoted her life to saving dogs. And what a legacy she did leave behind, and to all the animals, we must be kind.

Pet owners have been urged to stay vigilant after a spate of suspected poisonings in an area popular with dog walkers.

Residents of the Sunshine Coast please use caution if walking your pets around the areas of Buddina, Minyama, Pt Cartwright and La Balsa.

We unfortunately have had a series of patients presenting with alike symptoms that may suggest a toxicity by ingestion. Although we are unable to confirm the cause of these presentations the link to these patients is the area that they have walked within the 12 hours prior.

Symptoms to look out for are gastrointestinal upsets, lethargy, or any change to your pets behaviour.

We have chosen to err on the side of caution and have made local authorities aware.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us or your local veterinarian if you have concern.

BIG NEWS: Our Veticare motion just passed in parliament!

This demonstrates the support and need for reform - and importantly, acknowledges the problems that currently exist.

This is an important first step towards a new, world-class public healthcare system for animals in Victoria.

One that improves accessibility and affordability, and supports our hardworking vet clinic staff.

We'll now work with the government on next steps.

This is why it's so important to have representatives for animals in the Victorian Parliament.

We are seeking foster carer or adoption for our friend Cheeky, who currently has no place to stay in the Forest 😔 We absolutely love Cheeky, who has been a resident in the Willow Tree Forest for quite some time! 🌳

⭐️ Cheeky (microchip number: 953010100104378) is a 10-month-old Staffordshire Bully Terrier who is as d***y as he is fun! He is SO ready to meet a family that he can share his playful and curious nature with! We believe he would get on well with another 4-pawed-friend, and comfortable with older children

🙏 We know the right family is out there- can you help us find them?! 🙏

\\ Generational FEAR //

I work with many rescue animals who have been mis-treated and neglected. These animals often display fear based behaviour problems due to their exposure to negative experiences. ☹️

Fear can also be passed down from generation to generation. This means any offspring are more predisposed to anxiety and fear responses.

This is much harder to correct with training alone, as it is an inherent fear with no specific trigger.

Animal Kinesiology is very successful at calming generational fear. Energetically, we can trace the fear back through the generation to the real source. By clearing the fear at the source, we can influence the expression of this fear through all of the existing and future generations.

In the animal world, the effect of this work is huge, due to the large number of offspring! 🐶🐶🐶🐱🐱🐱

It sounds crazy, but it works!! 🙌

If your animal has fear based behaviours and phobias, have you considered this may be generational?

Animal Kinesiology can help!
