🇦🇺 Who else is still buzzing after last night’s final phase of the Paris Olympics Eventing 🙋🏼‍♀️ 🙋🏻‍♂️ 🇦🇺

Our team at Edwards Saddleworld were feeling particularly thrilled with Chris Burton & his SILVER MEDAL success 🥈

Can you believe the local connection we all share with Chris and the Burton family 🐴

The top right photograph is from the late 90’s at Warwick World Cup Event ()it was Chris and his cousin Trudy’s first ever 1 Star- who knew what the future was to hold! 💫

Today we spoke to Chris’s mother & well known local coach Ruth Burton ⬇️

Did you know Chris grew up with Toowoomba as his local city

He attended Downlands College in Toowoomba and rode for QLD in Interschool Equestrian

Chris attended Brymaroo Pony Club(which Ruth started)

Chris’s cousin Trudy Seefeld (IVY BANK Performance Horses) is also a local coach & competitor having ridden up to 3 star eventing herself

Chris’s cousin and wonderful previous Edwards Employee Megan Drennan is an eventer & Toowoomba artist. Her husband Brad shares the horse passion and is a local farrier ⚒️

Chris’s brother Karl & wife Felicity are top camp drafters, they conduct horsemanship and cattle working clinics statewide and run the Paddock to Plate enterprise - Burton Family Beef located on the Darling Downs

AND Chris rides in a Prestige Saddles “Chris Burton” which was developed in collaboration with Chris & is sold & fitted through Saddleworld stores

Congratulations Chris, Shadow Man & the Australian eventing team, you have really made us Locals, Queensland & Australia proud 🫶🏻

The boy from Brymaroo 🐎

A remarkable quiet Olympic story of a boy who grew up at Kulpi State School and Brymaroo Pony Club and became one of the most accomplished riders in the world.

He’s currently 3rd after dressage with cross country tonight and show jumping tomorrow night.

The end result doesn’t really matter.

It’s a reminder that a big lot of work and a big dream can land you on the biggest stage (or arena 🐎).

Anyone who knows his Mum and Dad Ruth and Ken will recognise what a beautiful family they have - and they have a special place in the hearts of many in our Toowoomba Region (including our family).
