Tail brushing (and any brushing really…) it works best and most effectively to start at the bottom/end and then work your way back up. So… we need to remember and be careful of the tail bone because we don’t want to dig in to or press too hard on the bone itself because that will be painful for your puppa. The other thing we want to try and do is use our hands/grip to prevent the pain of it ‘pulling out’ at the skin so try to always have a hand between the bone and your brush/comb. I strongly recommend using a comb in addition to a brush because a brush often will ‘skim over’ the top of mats hiding at the skin surface. A comb (gently/slowly) will find and highlight sneaky knots hidden beneath the surface. Let me know what you think, tips you’ve discovered or of course… ask any questions you have. Chances are, if you’re confused about something… someone else out there is too so ask away!! 🥰🫶🏻🐶🐾
You can see in these bottom pics, the purple line is where the tail bone sits and I have my thumb holding the hair away from the bone itself for brushing, again working our back towards the bone/skin.
This technique is great for ears as well. 🙂 🐾
