🚨PARVO VIRUS outbreak South East Queensland🚨
We have NOT had any cases present to our salon or training clinics, however due to the serious and possible deadly nature of Parvo we are taking additional precautions with all clients on top of our already strict protocols.
🐶 All Clients must wait at gates prior to entering the salon or training arenas for a staff member.
🐕 All Dogs will be assessed by our staff to ensure they are clear of the virus.
🐕🦺 If your dog exhibits any signs of being unwell prior to any appointments please contact us to rearrange your appointment.
🐾 If we notice any symptoms during an appointment we will notify you immediately for collection and we will recommend they are seen by a vet.
🐩 If your dog has any symptoms after your appointments please do also let us know.
We encourage pet owners to be vigilant about the signs of parvovirus, which can vary depending on the severity of the infection. Common symptoms include:
*Severe, bloody diarrhoea: Characterised by foul-smelling, watery stools with blood due to inflammation and damage to the intestinal lining.
*Vomiting: Dogs may vomit undigested food and exhibit dry heaving when their stomach is empty.
*Lethargy and weakness: Dogs can become extremely ill and fatigued, with puppies particularly vulnerable.
*Loss of appetite: Nausea and abdominal pain can lead to refusal of food and water, exacerbating dehydration.
*Fever: High fever often occurs as the body fights the infection.
If your dog exhibits any of these symptoms, isolate them immediately and contact your veterinarian. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical, as parvovirus can be deadly if left untreated.
It is always recommended that you stay upto date with your vaccination schedule, limit contact with other dogs and dog parks, discourage sniffaris and ensure your dog is only accessing their own water, food and toys.
