A little bit about us: We are a beautiful free range 900ha (2000acre) mountain beef cattle property. We have approx 500 cows, calves and steers, which we manage under a holistic impact grazing program. We use motorbikes to move the mob every few days, The ability to ride a motorbike or horse is not required,as there are plenty of other things to do as well. The horses are for pleasure only you ar
en't required to ride them,its much easier to ride the mini motorbike, safer and faster to get around
Note; If you wish to play with the horses, experience IS essential as we don't have time to teach you how to ride. But we enjoy helping you expand your knowledge with a couple of wonderful Horses lakota & jasper & yappa. Meanwhile back @ the ranch
We're 1/2hr to surf, beaches,and 5 different towns (Nr Forster), approx.3 hours drive north of Sydney on the East Coast. {average temp 23c} a car is usually available for beach trips at the end of weeks work (if care is taken with it)
Portable Saw milling is also done on our own timber from the farm for use in our building project the CABIN this year is now complete. We seem to always have a number of projects on the go,currently:Building Saw-milling, Tree felling ,Chainsaw, Painting Machines and Houses, fencing, cleaning and mechanical maintenance, orchard work, gardening Roofing Stock work . We like to mix it up a little bit to give you a varied experience of what goes on (& try to keep it fun). helicopter rides and flying with a neighbour in a small plane for the lucky ones. There are plenty of entertaining things to do. Wildlife: eagles, wallabies, possums to see, parrots, eagles, lizards, bandicoot, fruit bats etc
The jackaroo,jillaroo schools are charging $100 a day for these experiences and you have to work hard all day as well.! We offer free food and accommodation in return for a few hours work a day, mostly enjoyable work. We welcome anyone who has a 'CAN DO' attitude and is a self starter, and who is willing to have a go at new things (and maybe even show us some new ways)! A positive attitude is the most important tool in the box around here - this is essential for us both to get the best out of your experience! Its defiantly not all about work we live here as well :-)
There is always a lot going on here so if you're the kind of person that has got initiative ,then we would LOVE to have you! This is very much,a what you put in, is what you get back in return kind of place, AND we do have a lot of fun. Let us know what you do or what your particular talents are, and we will enhance them or try to find a way to use them here
You don't need to be able to speak perfect English (in fact we're happy to help you learn) but we do need to be able to communicate at a decent level for safety reasons ja,si,oui...
We prefer long stays (anywhere from 2 weeks to ...as long as you like...) as it takes a little time to familiarise with this large farm. Because we have a constant flow of HelpXers/WWOOFers come to stay, it's important that you CONFIRM with us a couple of weeks before you arrive that you're definitely still coming. Otherwise we don't hold a spot 4 you (genuine folk are missing out because you change your plans last minute)
Accommodation is either 2 large spare rooms adjacent to the house with en suite shower room, as well as a large caravan +/room [cabin} just out in our backyard suits couples. First come first served basis We do have broadband internet and in house WIFI, and a VOIP telephone - global calls free indefinitely. Suitable footwear can be purchased locally and isn't as expensive as in the city. So wait and see if we have boots to fit before purchasing boots to visit, size 5-11 available
We sometimes have a car for you to continue your travels.. At the moment we have
a cheap Toyota corolla good car good tyres and very cheap on fuel could sleep in car as its seats fold $1200
a cheap Nissan Navara twin-cab, runs on gas so cheap fuel $1200
PLEASE NOTE THE registration TAX FOR 1 YR WITH INSURANCE IS NOW COSTING BETWEEN $800-1000 WITH PROPERTY INSURANCE
These cars are really cheap for their condition, mechanically sound, honest cars
We have car, van service facilities here ie; a hoist to get underneath the car and equipment to fix them up, cost is related to how much work you do :-}

Be warned about Autobahn in Kings cross Sydney as some of the travellers that have stayed with me have had very bad experiences with them. just had an American couple confirm the same bad service from this Autobahn
Mobile Telephone coverage is limited in rural Australian. So be careful that you purchase a phone a chip that uses Telstra network such as Soul or Southern Cross Telco. Please note vodaphone, only has good coverage in the cities
