KANE Inc. Domestic Pets & Wildlife Rehabilitation in the East Kimberley & Animal adoption program. Supported by the Kimberley Vet Centre.

KANE Inc is a non-profit organisation and group of dedicated volunteers who provide care and rehabilitation for all creatures in the East Kimberley. Our group is based at the Kimberley Vet Centre (KVC) in Kununurra, they provide the initial primary assessment of all rescued & abandoned domestic animals and wildlife. Puppy’s and Kittens are then placed with Foster carers until they can be adopted.

Wildlife is also passed on to carers until rehabilitated and ready for release. We often receive both domestic and Wildlife from the Northern Territory, and throughout the Kimberley region from Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing and even from as far as Broome. We educate the public about threatening processes such as Ecanis, Cane Toads and the protection of our unique native species, and so much more. Our major threat at the moment is: Ehrlichia

It is a genus of Rickettsiales bacteria that is transmitted to vertebrates by ticks. This bacteria causes the disease ehrlichiosis, which is considered zoonotic, because the main reservoirs for the disease are animals. This can be life threatening if not treated. For more info

'White Dog' Now available for adoption!

White Dog is the product of several miracles - she was found on the road near Vic River Roadhouse!

We can't believe she was so lucky to not a) be hit by a car, and b) be spotted by someone on the sparsely traveled route!

Despite desperate advertising, no one has come forward to claim White Dog as their own, so we are now advertising her for adoption 🐾

She is the most lovely and affectionate little girl, clearly grateful for all the miracles that took place for her to find herself to us. She's approximately one year old and would make a delightful companion for any family.

Ochre is a teeny tiny lady, once again saved from the streets of Kununurra. She's between 4 and 5 months, and is likely going to stay a tiny little tot! Some lovely words from her foster carer:

"Hi guys, just letting you know Ochre is doing well and is such an awesome little pup ❤️
She's pretty curious and confident (a little bit sassy too) and gets along great with other dogs. She loves being part of the action and around her people - and she's so affectionate! But also, she's also quite independent - so ok with being left on her own for shortish periods.
She's going to make someone so happy!!"

Hi Kununurra, it's time for you to meet Benji, our newest KANE kid on the block!

Benji is a fun loving 4 month old boy, who is super easy going and playful. His previous foster carers raved about him:

"He has been soooo good so far, he learns very quickly - he is toilet trained (with regular breaks outside), can sit and shake already and will sit and wait politely for his dinner.
He loves the company of other dogs and they keep him really settled. Loves to run around and play in water. Very sweet, loving personality."

Stripes is being FAR too perfect - and in fact his carer brought him back today, begging for us to find someone else to take care of him! Please, Kununurra we beg of you, help us find Stripes the forever home he deserves!

This is Kalina, and isn't she precious?! Now, we haven't actually met her yet, but we have heard great things about her - apparently she is incredibly playful and the biggest sweetheart. Her name is an Aboriginal word for 'love', because of the love heart 🖤 on her nose!

Kalina has been rescued from the streets of Warmun, and is being driven to us tomorrow. Are you interested in fostering or adopting Kalina? You'll need to watch your back around her, because she is a thief.... she will steal your heart.

That got your attention, didn't it? Pictured is the backside of Bruno (now castrated you best believe) who has now been with us for over 6 months.... we are devastated he hasn't found a home yet!

He is a gorgeous and loving boy, confident and playful and just a dash cheeky. We have our fingers crossed for a Christmas miracle for him to be adopted this year. Can you help us make it happen?

We don't understand how anyone could ghost this beautiful and loving pooch! We are flabbergasted and appalled. Completely bamboozled.

Meet Sticka and Zippa, two 8 week old GORGEOUS girls. We speculate they have a fair bit of kelpie in them - but we'll all have to wait and see!

They are suuuuper soft and cuddly, and are just getting cuter by the day.
