Keep your puppies vaccinations up to date! π
Update: We sadly had another confirmed case of Parvovirus today in a puppy from an unvaccinated litter in our area. Unfortunately the puppy has gone to heaven π’
Unfortunately, we had 2 more confirmed Parvo cases in the last two weeks from the Parmelia area.
Parvo is a deadly disease that can survive in the environment for up to a year. Therefore it easily spreads between unvaccinated individuals in public areas like dog beaches and dog parks.
Keeping up with your dog's vaccinations will protect them from contracting and spreading this deadly disease. Unvaccinated puppies are especially vulnerable to the disease, treatment is expensive and the survival rates are poor.
To keep your furry friends safe, please ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
Also remember, puppies arenβt fully protected until two weeks after their 3rd puppy vaccination.
Parvo Virus Symptoms to watch for include:
1. Severe Vomiting: Dogs may vomit multiple times a day.
2. Diarrhoea: Often bloody and can be very watery.
3. Loss of Appetite: A sudden decrease in eating or drinking.
4. Lethargy: Unusual tiredness or lack of energy.
5. Abdominal Pain: Dogs may seem uncomfortable or sensitive when their abdomen is touched.
6. Fever: Elevated body temperature can occur.
7. Dehydration: Signs include dry gums and skin that doesn't bounce back when pinched.
If you notice any of these symptoms in your dog, seek veterinary care immediately.
Stay vigilant and keep those pups safe and healthy! πΎπ
