We are now taking names for our SENIOR puppy pre school course.

This course is designed for puppies aged between 16 weeks and 6 months. This course is structured very similar to our current 5 week baby puppy pre school course so would recommend this course to puppies that HAVE NOT ATTENDED a puppy pre school before or didn’t quite get the full 5 week experience in their baby puppy pre school course.

We all know I’m a HUGE ADVOCATE for socialising early on in a SAFE ENVIRONMENT!
Now is time to be EXTRA SAFE and ensure those pups that haven’t had their first 3 vaccines are ONLY SOCIALISED IN SAFE ENVIRONMENTS- interacting with FULLY vaccined dogs or puppies around the same age, only allowing them to interact with HEALTHY DOGS showing no signs of illness, walking on hard surfaces like tar and concrete, avoiding high dog trafficked areas, beaches and rivers as well areas where there has been known parvo cases.

If it’s been over 12 months since your adult dogs have had a vaccine and health check now is the TIME TO GET THEM UP TO DATE WITH THEIR VACCINES to help prevent any risk of them contracting parvo.

IF YOUR DOG IS SHOWING ANY OF THE ABOVE SIGNS PLEASE GET THEM TO A VET ASAP WHILE OBEYING YOUR CLINICS INFECTIOUS DISEASE POLICY.

This doesn’t mean it’s time to lock up your dogs and not keep going on with life, this just means in times like this it’s important to be extra cautious 🐶

If your dog has diarrhoea &/or vomiting. PLEASE DO NOT enter our clinic without first speaking to reception staff. Please help us keep all animals safe.

Puppy pre school is a 5 week course for any puppy between 6-16 weeks that has had at least one vaccine. Puppy pre school is an crucial part of a dogs development and will help set them up for a long and happy life 🐾

🏥 Seek Veterinary assistance immediately. ⏰Early treatment is vital.

Signs of snake bite to look out for in your pet:
👀 dilated pupils
👀 hind leg weakness
👀 trembling
👀 drooling
👀 pale gums
👀 pacing anxiously
👀 restlessness
👀 vomiting
👀 difficulty breathing
👀 excessive panting
👀 bleeding from nose or mouth
👀 collapse
👀 loss of consciousness

A little known symptom of snake bites in dogs, includes an immediate collapsing event followed by apparent recovery and seeming normal.

We have already had a large number of tick cases come through the clinic in the last 3 weeks, sadly not all of them made it home 😢. To protect your much loved pet , PLEASE 🙏
🫶 Make sure your tick prevention is up to date, it will save you $$$ and it may save your pets life, ask our friendly staff about which tick prevention is right for your pet.
🫶. Administer as instructed. Splitting one treatment between 2 animals (or more) is NOT recommended, as you can't be sure of the dose your animal is getting.
🫶 Daily tick searches of your pet as well as a preventative treatment provides the best level of protection.

Signs of Tick Paralysis to watch out for:
️‍🐾Uncoordination
🐾Weakness
🐾Collapse
🐾Vomiting or retching
🐾Change of bark or meow
🐾Difficulty breathing
Tick paralysis is progressive and potentially fatal 💔and you should seek Veterinary treatment immediately

What a Beautiful Day for Puppy Pre School, One on One Puppy Training and a House Visit 🐾

I can not thank the @thevalleyhub_nv enough for putting together this wonderful little piece 🥹🥺 I'm beyond proud of how far 4Paws has come in the last 2 years! With many, many , many more to come! 🐾

A puppies prime socialisation period is between 3-14 weeks. Half of this time they are with the breeder meaning it is super important to do your research on where you get your puppy from. Selecting an experienced breeder with high recommendations is a great way to ensure your puppies first few weeks of life have been enriched and provided for in the correct way. Once your puppies come to you, this is where your job comes in. Puppies generally aren't fully vaccinated (3 vaccines) until their prime socialisation period is over meaning it isn't 100% safe socialising them but it is essential for their development. Next week I will be letting you know how you can socialise your puppy in safe ways to ensure you give them the best start to life. 🐾
