🎆🎆🎆FIREWORKS WARNING 🎆🎆🎆
Attention all dog owners. Please be aware that there will be a fireworks display on Saturday 23/11/24 as part of the Open Streets Festival in Macksville. The fireworks will take place between 6.30pm-8pm and will last for about 10 minutes.

So how do you calm down a dog that is scared of fireworks? Here are some tips:

💥Know when local fireworks are happening so you can be prepared.
💥Exercise beforehand, as a tired and well-fed pet can be less anxious.
💥Be at home with them to help prevent your pet from escaping or injuring themselves. If you can't be with them, consider making arrangements with someone who can.
💥If possible, keep them inside. This reduces the sound of the fireworks for them & also helps to ensure they don't run away.
💥Create a safe, quiet place inside with a comfortable hiding place. Close blinds/curtains to reduce visual stimuli.
💥Use music or the TV to mask the noise.
💥Remain calm yourself, & perform normal activities. Try to avoid fussing over your pet too much as this can encourage anxious behaviour.
💥Distract them with games, favourite toys and treats.
💥Don’t punish your pet for being afraid as this is a normal reaction. It is best to offer comfort and use distraction techniques.
💥Ensure your fences and gates are secure.
💥Of course, always ensure your pet is microchipped and details are up to date, in case they do escape.
💥Speak with your vet about treating noise phobias through behavioural programs and medical options.

We are now taking names for our SENIOR puppy pre school course.

This course is designed for puppies aged between 16 weeks and 6 months. This course is structured very similar to our current 5 week baby puppy pre school course so would recommend this course to puppies that HAVE NOT ATTENDED a puppy pre school before or didn’t quite get the full 5 week experience in their baby puppy pre school course.
