TRANSPORT SORTED THANK YOU!
URGENT TRANSPORT NEEDED PLEASE!
Looking at this gorgeous pic made my day but the story behind it is one of the reasons KPR exists.
The dog in the photo is 6 year old, Tully. A beautiful girl who unfortunately needs some very expensive surgeries, followed by long recoveries in order to give her quality of life.
Tully has ruptured not one, but both of her cruciate ligaments and with both legs needing to be operated, each costing several thousand dollars, her family made the sad decision to euthanise her today.
Fortunately, before this happened, the vet clinic called us to see if there was anything we could do and, after a call to Dr Trin, we decided that we couldn’t let Tully die.
As you can see, Dr Duvall was thrilled to give Tully the news that she is now a KPR kid ❤️
We urgently need to get Tully from Landsborough QLD to Kingaroy QLD so that she can start her long road to recovery.
If you can give this lovely girl a lift, ideally tomorrow (Thursday), please let us know.
We are happy to reimburse fuel costs.
Now I better go and tell our treasurer what I have done and try to think of ways to raise the money for her surgeries…….

We are heading towards the very end for the month of April, which was our Heartworm awareness month. Meaning that our FREE Heartworm testing for dogs not on any prevention/lapsed on prevention AND for puppies 12 weeks of age is ending.

🩵 We now are heading into a new month = New awareness 🩵

The month of MAY is for... Arthritis 🦴

🐰 With Easter just around the corner here are some things to remember:

🍫 Yes, Easter is a wonderful time filled with lots of chocolate and spending time with family, BUT in saying this, we need to be extremely careful that our furry friends do not have any chocolate. Xylitol is also something we need to be really aware of!! This is in a lot of our sweet treats- make sure to check your ingredients lists.

Chocolate and Xylitol are very toxic to our pets, don't give in to the puppy eyes!! 👀

🍫 Signs of chocolate toxicity🍫
‼️Vomiting
‼️Diarrhea
‼️Increased body temperature
‼️Increased reflex responses
‼️Muscle rigidity
‼️Rapid breathing
‼️Increased heart rate
‼️Low blood pressure
‼️Seizures
‼️In Severe cases - cardiac failure, weakness, and coma

🌟FREE heartworm injection for puppies 12 weeks of age🌟

What exactly is 🪱 HEARTWORM 🪱 ?
Heartworm is parasitic worm that can infect your pet through a single mosquito bite!

It is transmitted from one dog to another by a single mosquitoe which pick up heartworm larvae (called microfilariae) in the blood when they bite an infected dog.

Symptoms may not show until there are a critical number of worms in your dog’s heart and lungs.
(They can grow over 30cm long!)

Mosquitoes are quite impossible to keep out of both the yard and house. This means that even your indoor-only pets are at risk.

Symptoms of heartworm in dogs may include:
• Coughing
• Lethargy or 'exercise intolerance'
• Loss of appetite
• Weight loss.
• Pale gums
• Shortness of breath
• Enlarged abdomen due to fluid build up

There is treatment is available for heartworm, it is a 120 day process from diagnosis.
