Earlier this week we had 7 gorgeous puppies come in for their first vaccination, microchipping and worming in which they were very brave for. 🐕🐕‍🦺🦴🐾
They are super well-natured, loving, playful and of course super cute! 😍

🦜RAINBOW LORIKEET 🦜

WIRES have brought a Rainbow Lorikeet into our clinic thismorning. Lorikeet appears to be in a healthy condition but is looking for its owner! 🦜

The Lorikeet does have an ID tag on its leg.

🩸BLOOD MACHINES 🩸

Recently we have upgraded and gotten some new blood machines!

These new IDEXX blood machines allow our vets to diagnose quite a range of illnesses and diseases. They have been used in critical situations to help us get to the bottom of a case as quickly as possible.

They also allow us to do general health blood screening on all aged patients, pre-anesthetic bloodwork to ensure that our patients are fit and healthy for their procedure.

Our team are very excited and love using them!😍

🐾🐾MR BLACKIE 🐾🐾

Oh Blackie! If only you could tell us what happened to you. ❓❓

Blackie went missing from his home and after 3 long days returned back waiting at the front door for his owner. 🏡
Blackie's owner soon realised something was not right with his right hind leg and brought him to the clinic immediately. 🏥

In the photo below you can see Blackie's hind leg was not in very good condition.
All the tissue surrounding the leg had died and the Tibia bone is able to be seen. 🦴
Blackie started on antibiotics, pain relief and fluids in preparation for Dr Alastair to amputate his hind leg in the morning. 🩺👨🏻‍⚕️

Blackie is now on the road to recovery with his 3 legs, still going for his long walks up the hill with his owner and enjoying life as he should!🐾🥰

Well done Blackie, you are super brave!! ❤️❤️

And last but certainly not least Ricky Baker. Ricky is here to make sure everyone is behaving, looking after all our hospital/surgical patients and eating all the left over treats!🍫

Outside of work Ricky loves racing alongside Alastair's bike riding, playing with his 3 siblings and eating venison. 🚴🏼

Morgan is currently studying Degree of Veterinary science at Charles Sturt university in Wagga. She is set to graduate in 2028. 🎓

Her favourite thing about working at Mivet is interacting with all the clients and their pets. Also loves making fun of Alastair. 😅

Outside of work Morgan enjoys gardening and admiring her lawn. You will also find her spending time with her great dane and 3 snags. 🐶🌭🌭🌭

Alastair is our practice owner and Veterinarian.
Alastair graduated from vet school in 1992 and has since been helping the lives and welfare of all animals in need big and small!🐕
Alastair enjoys being able to help our clients with their pets in so many different ways and enjoys performing surgeries. 👨🏻‍⚕️
Outside of work he enjoys working on his little farm, mountain biking, and of course spending time with the one and only Ricky Baker.

Kasey is Veterinary nurse who finished her Cert IV in Veterinary nursing mid way through 2023. 🩺

Hayley is our vet nurse in training. She is due to finish her Cert IV in Veterinary nursing in just under 6 months.

She enjoys meeting new animals and making sure they always feel happy and safe while they are at the clinic. 🩺
Away from work Hayley enjoys spending time outside which is often with her dog Harlow. 🐶

We had the most handsome Mace in yesterday for his desexing procedure. ✂️
His day was filled with cuddles, kisses and playing with all the nurses. 🤗
After a short snooze Mace was all ready to go back home to his dad!🩵

We look forward to seeing Mace again when he comes back for his revisit.🐾🐾

Willow was in recently for her desexing procedure.

🍪SAFE TREAT OPTIONS🍪

Often our pets just get our leftover lunches and dinners as snacks but we have to be super careful that they aren’t actually toxic to our pets.🐶🐱

Below we have listed a few safe treats for your pets to enjoy:
- Carrots
- Apple that is cut up and the seeds removed
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Eggs
- Green beans

All of these options are safe but in moderation only. Your pets may enjoy these fresh or frozen.

👷🏽We have had the pleasure of having Bob the builder (AKA Alastair's brother Richard) helping move our office building at the back of our clinic and putting up our new deck. 👷🏽

🐠🐠OUR NEW FISH NAMES🐠🐠

We know we have been keeping you all waiting but we wanted to make sure that we had all of your name suggestions.

We have one male Siamese fighting fish and one Corydoras catfish.

Our team have put all of the suggested names into a box and Nurse Hayley pulled out our fighting fish name and our animal attendant Danica pulled out the name for our catfish.

Mivet's new fish names are:
🤺Siamese fighting fish - Gilbert
🐱🐠Corydoras catfish - Sinka

Thankyou all who suggested the names, we had quite a lot in the box!

🥰MEET JOCK🥰

Jock comes in once a month for his Beransa injection💉

The Beransa injection is a monoclonal antibody which targets nerve growth factor, a pain receptor in the joints.
By blocking these receptors we block the pain messages from being delivered thus helping with pain relief and inflammation in the joints.

The owners have noticed a big difference in Jock's activity levels and overall health since he started on these injections!❤️🐾

Everyone meet Pixie Roo 😄 February this year Pixie came in with a broken leg 😢, it look some time and some lovely lovely visits over the few months but Pixie is now completely recovered 😁 and bouncing round outside happy as a pig in mud 🐷
