Tomorrow is going to be extremely high temperatures and in saying that we can as body workers can not work on a horse or dog in high temps as the session stimulates warmth and we don't want to over load the body's system.
Here are some tips for horses and dogs:
🐴For Horses: 🐴
⛱Shade & Shelter: Provide access to shaded areas or well-ventilated stables.
💧Fresh Water: Ensure a constant supply of clean, cool water.
💦Electrolytes: Add electrolytes to their water or feed if they sweat a lot.
🚿Hose or Sponge Down: Use cool water on their neck, chest, and legs.
🫠Avoid Peak Heat: Ride or exercise them early in the morning or late in the evening.
🌞Light Sheets: Use breathable fly sheets that reflect sunlight.
🐶For Dogs: 🐶
⛱Shade & Ventilation: Provide shaded, well-ventilated resting areas.
💧Hydration: Keep plenty of fresh water available.
❄️Cooling Mats & Towels: Use cooling mats or wet towels for them to lie on.
💦Water Play: Offer a shallow kiddie pool or sprinkler play.
🌞Avoid Hot Surfaces: Walk dogs on grass instead of hot pavement.
🐕Grooming: Regularly brush to remove excess fur.
Frozen Treats: Make dog-safe frozen treats or ice cubes.
