Few great call outs over the past few days!!

Big Copperhead in Bellbrae ! ✅

1 x eastern blue tongue - mistaken for snake in bellbrae!✅

1 x Eastern Blue Tongue Mistaken for Snake in Charlemont ! ✅

Unknown snake sighting in Inverleigh ✅

Great to see people ringing us instead of harming these beautiful and vital animals.

Remember - look after our wildlife !

They don’t have a voice, or choice when we are building on their habitats.

They have no where else to go - so be kind !

How : heading down a drain in a garage - caught and relocated ✅

How : basking in sun outside garage - caught and relocated ✅

How : snake was sighted by land owner - thorough inspection - no snake to be seen ❌

How : was sighted by owner on rock wall in morning decided to have me do a thorough property search for peace of mind - no snake found. Beautiful Bushland property - ideal snake habitat - no snake found ❌

How : found next to shed , the chunkiest brown I’ve caught.. quite feisty. Beautiful health 1.5m snake

How : managers kept an eye on the bush it was in, did everything correctly, I flushed snake out of the bush it went under a parked car - tailed and bagged ✅ relocated

Two call outs today

🐍 Ocean Grove Copperhead - search of property snake not found (backed onto nature reserve) ❌

🐍 Anglesea - Copperhead - rang me two hours after sighting , but wanted a property search anyway and backed on to a nature reserve , snake not found ❌

Remember time is everything - if you see a snake keep observing it from a safe distance and ring us straight away!

Snakes will be out and about, don’t hesitate.

Yesterday was a more unusual call out to inspect a property that had snake skin, it was most definitely a Tiger Snake.

I had a great chat to the property owner and family about the types of snakes in the area, their food source and possibly why the snakes find their property a good place to call home.

It was an excellent opportunity to educate people on the importance of snakes in our environment and how they could make their property a little bit less welcoming for snakes .

It’s a hot one in our region today!

Our website is up and running finally - we are currently working on Google algorithms to actually show up when googling a snake catcher on the Bellarine.

Based in Leopold it takes us 10 - 20 minutes to arrive on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Time is EVERYTHING when searching for a snake.

**Guess the species**

This snake is very common around our area, they are highly venomous and come in all different colours - including brown, black, banded and more.

Get your children around and ask them to tell you and comment below!

If you do see a snake, do not try to pick it up or interfere with it.

The most common snake I’ve encountered around Geelong the Surfcoast and Bellarine so far this year has been this species :

Lowlands Copperhead

This snake has the ability to live pretty happily in heavily disturbed areas e.g new estates and high traffic areas.

They are pretty shy snakes and will hide and are reluctant to bite unless provoked.
