Today we got the news that one of our favourites has left this world.

Our hearts break for his owner Peter who not only gave him the best care a dog could wish for but also a beloved mate.

Costa was the start of Tamboolou Kelpies. He came to us as our first real working kelpies, with some of the best breeding the late 90’s had to offer.
With such a big heart, it was like he could read your thoughts.
He had everything you could wish for in a dog and he will be sorely missed.

Run free Cozy, I know there are paddocks of sheep waiting for you mate.

Fully trained paddock type bitch.

Annie is a great hand to have around excelling in the paddock and around on the farm. Annie is a harder type of bitch with a great nose and front foot bite. She is bred for cattle work and does excel in that field of work. She has had a great deal of experience with sheep and cattle. Annie will work in the sheep yards or in a shed but she prefers not to back and is a silent worker and is much happier out in the paddocks.
She has an a great array of work experience including some droving from horse. She will work from bike horse or Ute.
Not a trial winner but certainly a lovely dog to work with. Great nature and works best with a softer type of handler.

Tess is the sweetest bitch I’ve come across and I’ll be sad to see her go but she needs to be out there makin a quid.
Tess is a great sheep dog and will work cattle as well as part of a small team. She is very enthusiastic about having a job but doesn’t rush her stock to get her job done. She excels in the shed and yards and backs well! She has what it takes to be a very nice paddock bitch as well she just lacks a little experience and will need some help from from her new person to finish off her apprenticeship and become a true alrounder.
Tess has been around bikes Utes and horses and works from them well. She also likes long walks when the boss has a day off.
She will become a family favourite.

Dakka is an enthusiastic young dog at the beginning of his career. Daks is a started dog displaying a great amount of talent to become a great alround farm dog!
He has been shown sheep and balances up nicely and has started to learn some basic sides and a stop. Daks has will excel in the paddock and the yard and shed.
Dakka will need a kind consistent handler to help him finish off his apprenticeship and get some full time work.
Lovely natured friendly fella.

Through back to sunny days warm weather and weaner cattle that needed walking!
As much as the rain is nice I can't wait for spring and some longer days again!

With great sadness we have decided that our happy fella Rocky is ready to start his career. With a solid foundation, temperament, and with great keenness rocky has excelled in leaps and bounds and will be available for purchase for someone looking for a new helper!

Bred by Richard Davies from Celtic kelpies out of coopendale bindi by glenfaba kenny. Rocky is a lovely big leggy dog just going 12 months of age. With all the abilities to become a great allrounder having had exposure around sheep and cattle and in the yards and out in the paddock.

Rocky is a lovely friendly dog who would suit any type of handler as he doesn't take to much to heart.
He has a lovely big cast and a huge ground covering stride, and is slightly loose eyed.
Has established sides and a stop and has a great recall.
In the yards he is free backing and will back the draft while you draft to keep the sheep up to you. Has a big bark and will bark on command and will bark on cattle as well but is gaining more and more confidence with cattle.

Rocky is only for sale due to a decrease in work and for him to continue on his carreer path he will still need a helping hand here and there to learn and continue to build his confidence. Rocky will excel as a farm dog and with more consistent work will make a lovely trial dog also as he is so willing to please!

As we build a dog to become a well rounded farm hand it's important to offer them the opportunity to build themselves up and feel comfortable to go and do any job that's asked of them.
Today we have started to work on building confidence in and around cattle with our young bitch Mouse(blue/tan with pink collar)

Mouse is a softer type of dog when it comes to stock that are likely to try and take ground but with some work and encouragement we have been working at builder her self confidence and giving her a bit more edge in the feedlot pen.

It's always nice to get the opportunity to work with a young dog that you helped to bring into the world and then to watch it flourish and grow!
Little bindi was a pup from our last litter of pups out of Capree Annie by Ryan's Costa.
This is her second time out in the paddock learning to work her stock and learning her sides. Her owner has done a wonderful job to help prepare her for her life as a working dog and I look forward to following there journey together.
She is showing all the attributes of a handy little allrounder!

Great article explaining how we like to manage and handle our weaned calves to ensure happy healthy weight gaining cattle.
The results speak for themselves and we are currently more then 3 months ahead of our previous years weight gains!

Our kelpies help make this happen with quiet calm strong and steady work.
Our freshly weaned calves learn to work off a dog and respect the dogs, less stress = happy cows and a quicker turn over of beef = more $$$ in your pocket!

Early start with the girls this morning to try and beat the heat!
The ewes were sorted and back in there paddock's before smoko!
So rewarding getting up early we got to enjoy a beautiful sunrise, the stock worked better and our girls didn't get too hot!

Expression of interest is offered for those looking for there next future worker!

Every now and then here at Tamboolou Kelpies some of our clients may express the wish to have there dogs assessed and rehomed due unforeseen circumstances that life throughs at us.
And although this isn't to often we don't mind at all to help to find a suitable home.

Tess has been with us here at Tamboolou kelpies for the past month completing her assessment for her future home and she is turning out to be a lovely little worker just as she was bred to be!

Here at Tamboolou Kelpies things have been super busy! I thought I'd better share a bit of a profile on one of our tried and tested bi***es, Tamboolou Mouse.
Mouse came to join Tamboolou mid 2017 and since joining the team she has come along in leaps and bounds!

Mouse is a station bred bitch bred by Hogans Kelpies Coonamble Nsw.
Breeding back to glenyon diesal, Buntal chunky, futura tip II.

Has since been full time on the job moving large and small mobs with plenty of cover, wide casting, speed and stamina to go all day.
In the yards is backing and really starting to move her stock well!
A quality all rounder bitch.
