Well 3 sheep trialling done and dusted for 2023. 2 yard trials to go

Couldn't be more happier with Eddie and Marrar

Eddie was in the novice championship final but ran out of puff in the final. Unplaced 4th but still happy

Marrar did some great work but I knew we were in trouble from the start. One sheep came out stomping her feet.

Great work to get them around the peg, challenging down to the race but got through, them nice and calm to and through the race I thought I had them at the bridge but a little too much push and a lap of the bridge made us just short of the pen and timed out

Bloody good work even though it was not a finals score but couldn't be happier.

Hopefully after the last few sessions with Eddie his cast will be faster.

So quick at home but stops short at trials.

If only i could take the BIG stick to the trials lol

Wow the last few weeks have been amazing. Since the 9 September we have pretty much been trialling.

So happy with my two Collies both doing some great work but also having a few hiccups. Can't always go our way

Eddie got a score in the Novice at Strathalbyn and Marrar was the highest scoring SA improver dog and missed out on 0.5 points to get in the final

Onto Maitland where I judged the novice so only had runs in improver/open. Didn't go our way but sheep were very good.

We finished up at Paskeville today with both Marrar and Eddie working well in the farm trial. Clearing all their gates in the yard section which has been a challenge in the past

Eddie got both his casts in the 3 sheep but we will leave it at that.

Marrar first run was so quick we won fastest penning time. I still had 6.24minutes left of a 15 min trial when I closed the pen at 8 mins 34seconds

She did a great job
Marrar was 3rd going into the improver final and operator error caused her to cross. Still 3rd which I'm happy with

Overall came home with a few bags of dog food, some money and two items (see picture) that John grabbed straight away

Weekend off then back to Strathalbyn for a yard trial

Last day of Strathalbyn Supreme sheep dog trial

Round 3 of Ted Gaby underway which will be followed by the improver final that my beautiful Marrar missed out of by 1/2 point

Then this will be followed by top 10 open dogs

Home from Port Fairy and half packed for Strathalbyn.

For those that know me I am always super proud of my dogs no matter the outcome.

I am not a farmer , I am lecturer in adult education
I don't have a farm, I have 2 acres
I don't have a large mob of sheep, I have 6 trainer wethers

It has taken me a bit longer to understand sheep but I'm getting there

So when I get excited in getting 5th in a Trans Tasman novice and have this gorgeous boy smiling at me it is all worth the crosses, lost sheep and retirements

Trials for Marrar and Eddie before the end of the year

Cold day at Melrose. Finally saw the mountain at 12 noon then sunshine for a bit

Happy with Eddie's cast, lift and draw. Put sheep in pen. Tried hard in the yards but bit sticky and didn't want to go around them to put away. Ran out of time so never got a chance to do paddock.

Marrar up tomorrow in open and the another run for Eddie.

Home after 6 days at the Barmera sheep dog trial. What a great week with great friends.

Too all the helpers, sheep owner, truck driver and fellow triallers thankyou.

Marrar did some awesome work and both her and I were enjoying what was happening. Tricky sheep in the Improver final and with 8mins still on the clock at the bridge they would not look. Too many laps and Marrar working her heart out we retired

Another great day at Barmera .

Eddie not quite fast enough to get around the running sheep and they crossed him. That's it all over

Marrar on the other hand tried to wrap 3 sheep around my legs at the casting peg. She worked her heart out on rough cranky ewes. Backed two through the gap, peeled them off the side of the race when they decided to come out and stand there and did great bridge work (without me getting the way) missed the pen only 42 but suppa pleased and she is in the improver final tomorrow

Both Marrar and Eddie scored in the Trans Tasman. Not enough to make the final but both worked well.

Eddie cast on his none favoured side and stopped at point. Was happy. Brought down round the peg to the gap but I had trouble pulling him off balance. More homework

Marrar was awesome. Great cast and walk up. Few points on the way to the gap, through the gap another few point gone and a couple to the Maltese Cross. Through the cross without much effort and the drive to the bridge was perfect.
Then the wheels fell of. Sheep in the mouth of the bridge , operator error popped out and could not get them back in. Ran out of time

Onwards to the improver, open may be starting tomorrow Arvo

Well the novice was finished today. Eddie was one of only 6 dogs who score so happy with that. Just got to unblock his ears!!!!

Well the rain has arrived in Barmera. A few scratchings in the novice but still a good field of young dogs

Wet sheep and wind may not be the best combination

What a weekend. Sunburn Saturday, Rain all day sunday.

Wake 'em Up Eddie remembered the Elivs song on the weekend "I did it my way" but not unhappy still only a young dog. Plenty of time to improve

McConnell's Marrar on the other hand (Eddie's mum) worked a dream scoring an 81 in the improver/open

Unfortunately for some reason only Marrar know crossed me on the way to the pen. Oops

Very happy with third in the improver and only just missed out in the open final
