Another trip down to TWEPC Rally to see what the big man would do.

I have noticed a couple things, he's more antsy when on the ground and a bit pushy. Unsure if it's because he's looking around and forgets that I'm there 😅 or because he's still adjusting to the new area.

We lunged to start with as this wind is crazy and I had no idea what to expect from him. He listened well with lots of walk/trot/halt transitions both directions.

I got on! I was a bit tense 😬 I tried to relax as best I could 😪 We got some long and low moments, with some long rein and short rein. I didn't want to overwhelm him so got off early.

Forgetting that Hazel was coming down to help. 😔 Sorry Hazel!

Wind 🌬️ and rain 🌧️ didn't stop us today 😅
Jax started on the lunge due to myself not being sure how he would handle the crazy wind. We did lots of transitions in walk and trot, with sprailing in and out to get him thinking 💭 Had a small mishap when ended in him cantering on the left lead 🤯 this was big for him as he struggles to get the left lead. We have to work on "and trotting" command to come back. I got on and we did some long and low with lots of direction changes to understand what Im asking.

Rocket was just plodding along today with Rubi. I was meant to surprise her with a trail ride but the weather made me unsure 😔

Was meant to ride yesterday but the weather caused us to cancel our lesson but instead went for a physiokey session ✨ Jax had tightness through his near side shoulder and throughout his back. Massive releases with spasms occuring all over his body and down his legs. Whether this is a good soreness from working on long and low or not 🤷

I wasn't much help due having Tyler clingy and in his baby carrier 😂 He is a cutie 🥰

🔵 Sorry it's a bit late. Had issues trying to upload for some reason.

🔵 Rubi went out on Rocket to APEC for the slack hack. She quite enjoyed herself and came home with a handful of ribbons ✨

4th in Handler under 12 🏅
2nd in Rider under 12 🥈
1st in pairs of ponies 🥇
2nd matchy matchy. 🥈

🔵 She did some games at the end of the day as well, where she did some pole bending, barrels, walk - trot - run and keyhole novelties.

🔵 We had a firm discussion about behaviour and how important it is to listen. As I wasn't always with her due to Tyler being grizzly and cold. So it was definitely a challenge for myself. 😔

🔵 Rubi isn't the easiest at times due to her being ADHD, and sensory processing. I have decided for future events that I will need someone else with me to help balance everything 🤔

Nice little bit of an exposure day for the big boy. He was a little pushy but with firm reminders he soon settled. Had a little moment of a spook when a pony hit a trot pole from behind so we watched her go around and wasn't bothered. Now in the yard nibbling away.

Going back to basics with the big man ✨
He has a little more tendency of woah than go which is fine 😅 but my fitness isn't where it should be for him and his strides! So I tire easily and than woah would be nice 😅

We are just working on woah, walk on, trot on, steady and walk commands. We did some spiralling in and out as well as Jax has a tendency of trotting when not asked under lunge so lots of practice of "annnd walkkkk" with spiralling in so he understands the commands clearly.

He loves a good snuggle too 🥰

Jax had a light ride yesterday! Tried taking a photo of him with the reins over his head before he walked off 🫣 whoops! Definitely falling more in love with this beautiful boy 😍

Jax's ride was kept short due to running out of daylight, but we started on our warm up and aiming for the long and low the moment we get on. Listening to halts when asked for and working on a nice trot transition 🐎 not giraffe transitions 🦒

At the end, we practiced some in-hand, not sure if Jax has ever done in-hand before! Surprisingly he didn't trample me like I thought he would. I aimed for longer strides and gave him that bit more rein to move. Asking for the trot was a bit difficult but with a vocal cue and a light tap with the whip, he caught on. Big long strides for this big man was slightly difficult due to being 5ft nothing 😂

Something not horse related for a change 😅

Thought I would share a couple photos of my boy, Tyler. How is he nearly 1 year old is crazy 🥺 He is my everything and when Im feeling low his cuddles make everything fade away. We have our ups and downs but that's learning how to parent and be a family together. Riding while having him can sometimes be difficult, and it's a huge help and thank you to my parents that watch him while I do my lessons. My lovely boyfriend .jones_1772022 for supporting me in my horse riding and raising our little boy together 💖.

My body has changed and yeah I struggle with body image now but knowing I have him, does sometimes made it fade away. Finally having some new clothes and riding wear, do make a big difference in feeling confident! (Thank you for that beautifully written post 💕)

✨ 10th May 2024 ✨

Rubi's first ever Interschool Gymkhana! 🏇 Rocket's first time doing one of these too. Thank you Trinity College for hosting the event and Xavier College for allowing these kids to be given an amazing opportunity. Thank you to the amazing Judge for taking time out of her day to participate.

Rubi was in the walk and trot ring for year 4 - 6 group and got:
2nd in Learners Mount 🥈
4th in Child Handler 🏅
4th in Rider 🏅
4th in Best Tail Rider (this one surprised me!) 🏅
Encourage in Fancy Dress 🎖

l for being there for the Xavier Students and supplying the browbands and saddle pads. 🌟

15th June - Pole Clinic 🏇

Waiting for more videos and photos to come but yesterday we did a pole clinic at Hazel's! It gave me an opportunity to wear my new and amazing tights, belt and long sleeves! Got so many compliments wearing this and cannot wait to get more.

Rubi went really well and has a few things to focus on, like slowing the rising down to ensure Rocket doesn't rush as she knows what pole clinics are and did have a little pop over the jump with Rubi.

Jax and I went really well, I gotta stop holding myself back a bit but it's definitely a mental barrier. He went well, he was very uncoordinated at the start but got better and more confident with every pole.

🔷APEC Games Day! 🔷
🔷 28th April 2024 🔷

Jax's first outing. For some crazy arse reason, I decided to take both Rocket and Jax out. Rubi was to ride Rocket, as it was a games day and Rocket is pretty chilled. Jax didnt even bat an eyelid, being tied up, everything going on around him. He just wanted his food. I decided to pay the day fee and get on the big boy.

He was perfect, didnt put a foot wrong and took it all in his stride. We practiced some trotting away from the group and he listened and responded well. We participated in a few of the games and won the egg and spoon race. (I think its the stride length!). We had some streamers come out and he got a bit lookie, but eventually relaxed until the streamer snapped. I let go of it but it was somehow stuck to us. Poor Jax wasnt happy, eventually it fell and got wrapped around his legs! Me thinking ah sh*t this is gonna be bad, nope, he just stood there and waited patiently while Alex removed it.

Rubi had an absolute ball with her friend, Izzy.

When you feel the time is right, just got to go with it!

Im back! Again ✨

I went a bit quiet for a bit as I dropped my phone and no longer could use the top half of my screen! 😔 So it made posting videos or doing anything tricky unless I was using my laptop! Thankfully my mum has given me her old phone and given herself an upgrade 📱 (Thank you 💕) and now have a screen protector on it 😅

So will have a huge video and photo dump coming 💖 lots of updates with Jax and a little quiet with Rocket but she does have some things going on so will be sharing those too! Stay tuned 🐎

I know I have been a bit quiet (4 months out the saddle) but I'm excited to say I'm back! Bit of a long post.

We had our little boy, Tyler! Born 30th June 23, 3:45pm 💖 more spam to come 💕

We are only 6 weeks PP, and back into the saddle. We are just walking and for short intervals of time. Safe to say my seat bones are not loving me 😂 I'm also a little unco 😅 but can we all take a moment to admire rocket, moving forward and coming over the back more!

Massive shoutout to Hazel (.roberts.92) for riding Rocket in the last 3+ months and still working alongside her and myself 💕

33 weeks! 7 weeks to go!
Finally starting to show more and pop!

I miss being in the saddle 😔 and seeing all these events happening and not being able to be a part of it, sucks! But not long now until our baby boy is here!

Splish splash 🏖️💦

Sunday we went off to Port Parham beach for a splash. I can't fault Rocket. She takes it all in her strides even going up till the water was at her belly. Finished by a nice roll on the beach.

Sadly one of last few horse riding adventures for the meantime.

Love how you can actually see her white stockings and socks after a good bath! Hard to tell with how grey she is, when her natural colour was palomino! Not sure if she wants to go flea bitten or dapple 😂 brown spots here and there, but a dapple bum 💕

Something not horse related!

So partially why I have been so quiet is because I work within Greyhound Racing SA, I help train and race these gorgeous babies. By the time I get home, it's late or usually have no energy left as it's quite physical with these pups! I have gone to the track and boxed a winner (last photo). It was her first maiden race! Go Milky! 🐾 Moot moot, ex race dog now broodie loves having a chase and zoomie session 💕

Well we are back into full swing! Yes I been very quiet and will explain in another post. Took little miss out to Barossa Valley Pony Club for their training day over the grade 5 jumps! It wasn't our best probably due to me being a bit crook and unwell! (chest cold) 😔 and Rocket being a bit rattled herself.

We will be out and outback again. Just got to get my confidence back as was a bit rattled being out in a while! 😂

💥💥 PCASA ODE 💥💥
💥 Williamstown ODE 💥
💥💥💥 Grade 5 💥💥💥

💥 This was a lot better than I expected! Rocket and I decided to compete grade 5 after winning grade 6 at the GRPC ODE in March.

💥 Dressage sat us last 😂 It wasn't our best. I blame myself for not being relaxed enough and probably over thinking everything. We scored 65%.

💥 Show Jumping we got 3 time penalities. I forgot to ask what for, my thoughts are too slow. As again my nerves were rattled and wanted a nice slow steady round.

💥 This placed us 3rd in Combined Training! I couldn't believe. Our first grade 5 event in years! 😱

💥 Cross country, well that's another story. We had a little sook at the first jump but she did eye off the hay at grade 4 just 1 🤦 other than we got listening (the Arab did come out 😅) and jumped well that was until jump 10. Jump 10 such a harmless looking jump (will show video and photo of this jump). Rocket stopped suddenly causing me to land on my butt 😂 I was disappointed in her but at the same time proud that we attempted grade 5. We did the walk of shame back to the yard!

💥 Overall, we are still going to be trying grade 5 more often, I will need to get my PCASA card adjusted. I cant believe how far Rocket and I have came in such a short period of time 💕

Aftermath of the come and try Hunt, hosted by: Sailsbury Hunt Club!

First of all thank you to all the lovely people! You are all so welcoming and friendly!

I can not fault Rockets behaviour. She was well behaved only except she was very forward and wanted to run with all the others so we need to work on our brakes a bit more when cantering!

Yes we had a small tumble. Rocket forgot about her footing and tripped! She went down to her knees and recovered. However, I went over and onto the ground 😂 unfortunately rocket beelined it back to the floats! Thank you Jess for riding after Rocket! Got a lift back to where she was and got back on to go again!

Definitely looking forward to trying out the preliminary hunt in a couple weeks! 💕

🤩 I'm still trying to wrap my head around the weekend! 🤩

"If you believe, you can achieve"

🌟 Where do I begin? It's a long post!

🌟 Saturday, Rocket and I warmed up steadily awaiting our turn. Honestly I'm always a can of beans before entering the ring. Rocket was fluent in her strides and didn't miss a beat. The judge comments made my heart melt "harmonious team"! 💕

🌟 We were sitting in 3rd place for dressage with an average score of 66.67%.

🌟 The show jumping, Rocket didn't even look twice at any of the jumps. She knew what she had to do! So calm and collected. No rushing was involved!

🌟 This ended us in first place! 🥇 I was like nah surely not! But yes, we won the combined training. This was a huge first! We never won a combined training before and I am so proud of Rocket 💕

🌟 Sunday, I was so anxious, my heart was in my chest. I recalled the layout so many times and decided to just go with the flow, relax and it will be okay.

🌟 Rocket did not hesitate at any of the jumps like I thought she would. She had pure faith and confidence in me! She even went in the water without hesitation!

🌟 Sailed over the finish line with 6 minutes and 6 seconds to do the cross country course!

** Drum roll**

🌟 We finished first! My second successful ODE and we came first! I am estactic! 🥇

🌟 Overall I'm so proud of Rocket. Our confidence has grown massively! For those that have told me and encouraged me, yes I have decided I'm sticking to Grade 5️⃣ from now on 🤩

🌟 I have so many people to thank, but most importantly my partner, Daniel. he supports me in my riding and my competitions. He is my rock through all of these events.

LIBERTY TRAINING - BOW (Feb 2021)

As I'm still trying to update this account on Rockets progress in the last 2 years due to our old one being hacked. This was our side thing!

Rocket is liberty train as I believe in the bond and foundations before riding and just pushing them to their limits. Especially with some of the hardships Rocket and I have encountered and having to rebuild our trust from the ground up.

We mainly focus on join up until I see the signs of her wanting to join me which happen pretty quickly now. She will begin follow me around the arena, yard and all over the place. Over poles, over jumps etc.

Rocket and I expanded our liberty training of following to vocal cues and tricks! I will try and post some more videos soon of liberty training!

Rocket and Rubi at the slack hack show held by APEC (28/3/21). Rocket was very slow and sleeping on the spot 😅 It was more of me letting the lead more loose and allowing Rubi to take more control. Unfortunately there was only her and one other kid competing today so lots of ribbons! Except for novelties, there was another kid.

This was my first ever reserve champion ribbon!

Rocket took it all in her stride and we fell into our nice rhythm together.

🌟 Rocket being the gentle giant she is today! Rocket is liberty trained and will follow me around and respond to vocal cues.

🌟 It is a very slow video but slow is progress for a child that is anxious and has zero confidence on a horse!

🌟 Rubi enjoys playing with rocket on the ground but has no confidence in the saddle!

🌟 Did some light walking in the round yard, with direction changes and small inside circles.

🌟 Rubi did some balancing and finding parts of the horse that I pointed out - girth, neck, shoulder, hind quarters.

🌟 Lastly, did some clover leaf patterns and some trot poles with a tiny crossbar.

🌟 This is a big achievement for Rubi!
