Announcement……

We will no longer be offering any future training , education or breaking for clients.
We will be for-filling all current bookings but will not be taking any more clients horses on we are closing our gate as a business as of the 1st of September.

Emily is going to be focusing on her coaching and completing her level 1 dressage specialist coaches , training her own personal upcoming young dressage horses & the education of the Standardbreds through the HERO’S program.

This decision has not been made lightly , but with a 25% business insurance increase and increases in the cost of everything it is not sustainable to keep afloat as a small equine business.

We would like to thank each and everyone of our clients for all their support & the friendships we have made it’s has been an amazing journey.

Clients horse Fred who is just super awesome and is transitioning to ridden horse from a successful harness horse this afternoon having a trot along …… this guy just tries his big heart out what ever we throw at him , super proud of how well he is going , he will be here until the end of July and then head home to his owners to enjoying a bit of trail riding and fun

Clients horse freds first independent ride under saddle this week , this guy is just the best , from not knowing how to lunge to his first independent ride , learning to use is body from the ground up and now is happily bending and using his body with a rider on board , super proud of Fred’s efforts , Fred will spend a few more weeks with us to ensure he is happy to plod out on the trail once we are confident in his abilities at home under saddle. He is super quirky and cheeky and just has the best personality for a standardbred.

So super chuffed with Fred (clients horse ) today first sits in his transition to a ridden horse after retiring from a harness career ❤️🦄🐴🥰🙌⭐️ mounted both side and he didn’t even batter an eyelid , lots of smoochies and rewards for such a super effort.

Too new arrivals 🦄🐴🙈

Meet adi (Adelaide show) 5 year old tb mare recently retired from racing , she will spell over winter and come in for education and to be sold in spring.

Meet RJ (arrjays trapper) a beautiful little standy mare who has been spelling since retiring for several months , we will get some more weight on this little sweet heart and start her education to ridden career once she has picked up a little bit.

We thank their owners / trainers for delivery them and continuing to place their lovely horses with us.

Both mares have settled really well and are of a really lovely nature.

10yo 15.2hh ottb gelding. Ryboy is a quiet gelding looking for a new home. He was unfortunately sold to the owner unsound and unsuitable for riding with a past pelvic injury. He is paddock sound and up to date with all his dental, feet and worming. Gets along well with horses and foals, no food aggression. Would make an excellent companion. Will come with his rug

As of today , I Emily have requested that my racing Victoria off the track thoroughbred retrainers status be revoked , as we all know I’m passionate about what I do and how dedicated I am to each and every horses on our property, unfortunately protocols by some that aren’t being followed , the merely $100 a month we received from the program isn’t enough to cover much of the up keep of these horses who usually require a lot of upkeep , I have strong beliefs and values & sometime I am embarrassed to carry the acknowledgment of the rv off the track status which is sad to say , so with all taken into consideration we will be working along side the small dedicated tb trainers who have their horses utmost care and wanting to best for them after racing and retraining under our business and not rv acknowledged retrainers status anymore.

Had his first official ride yesterday , slow and steady wins the race with this gelding , he is going to be amazing under saddle but will need a skilled tactful rider to continue on with him , he will not look out of place in the show ring this gelding , he will kept being ridden for the next few weeks and be looking for his next rider to continue on with him , he has an amazing canter on the lunge which we think with time will come together nicely under saddle.
We always like a challenge and it’s been very up and down with this gelding as he was gelded late and can be very opinionated but is progressing very well with everything that is asked of him.

Ringo had started his ridden career after a successful life of racing but due to some recent findings ringo needs to find a companion / equine therapy non ridden home.

Unfortunatelywe have detected a small cataract in ringo’s right eye , which we believe had been the cause behind him taking off under saddle , so have decided in his best interest to rehome him as a equine therapy horse or companion.

Both our kids have handled ringo on a regular basis , he lunges , ties , washed , float etc like an absolute legend , can be paddock’d by him self or with other horses no problems in the world.

Duke of staghurst new owner he has settled in really well and they are absolutely loving him.

Retraining off the track race horses for a life after racing is so rewarding , duke was rehomed for free with terms and conditions it’s not about making a profit of these horses for us it’s about finding them the most perfect forever homes ❤️🐴🦄⭐️

HRV HERO ample power (Pedro) put some wonderful work together today and is nearly ready to start being ridden, Pedro can sometimes think he needs to do his own thing & being gelded a bit later than a normal gelding would be , pedro sometimes has some attitude adjustments to learn , but he was perfect today in every way , this guy is going to be a show stopper (when he isn’t in his winter woollies ) he is absolutely amazing to look at as well as movements , still working on his tranter (canter) 🤭❤️🐴🦄⭐️🤩🙌

We are loving this little gypsy cob x gelding owned by a close friend of ours whom we are starting under saddle & hopefully take out and compete until she can ride again. His canter 4 weeks ago was so choppy and unbalanced & now his up and down transitioning is wonderful and he has really started to find his feet in the canter.
Once we have a saddle recommendation/ fitting done for this beautiful little gelding we will start the ridden part of his career , he has had the saddle on and weight in the saddle , but being a younger horse we want to ensure his brightest future and make sure his saddle is fitting ready to start to being ridden.

Late introduction, we had new clients arrival’s this week.
Firstly meet fred a 9 year old standardbred gelding here to be retrained to a ridden horse , fred is already a favourite with his quirky cheeky personality & has really started to settle in and has started his ground work sessions , and also had a visit from the vets on Tuesday for routine dentals.

Secondly meet Bel a warmblood x tb mare (breeding unknown ) Bel is a 15 to 17 years old warmblood mare who’s history prior to her current owners is unknown , a few layed to peel back on this beautiful mare but there seems to be a really beautiful mare underneath it all , Bel hasn’t had much done with her for the past 4 years , again the day Bel arrived she seen our vets for dentals also , once Bel is in full work & we really get to know her she will be for sale.

Had a wonderful catch up with Tracey from Barastoc Horse / feeds today , Tracey came and met all the horses on the farm , reviewed our current diets & gave some wonderful insights and information into the right feeds and feed rates & how to truly balance our horses diets without having to feed so many different feeds , we look forwards to working closely with barastoc feeds in the future to have happy healthy horses.

Just a reminder , dentals dentals dentals , pictured here is 2 different clients horses , who where lucky enough to arrive just in time for our monthly visit from the fabulous Dynamic Equine Veterinary Services , we can’t not stress enough about having our horses & clients horses teeth done by someone who has veterinary qualifications and have done extensive dental qualifications on top , mikhalla is amazing at what she does with all our vet work & we can’t thank her enough for her skill set and knowledge.

As part of our education & training , we request our clients horses & our own retrainers all have had dentals done within 6 months prior to arriving , if not we request we have the fabulous dr mikhalla do your horses dentals , this is one step to ensuring your horses are of a happy , healthy mental & emotional state already for the work we do with them in the future , this rules out any discomfort they may have with bridling and contact.

Let’s talk about inside leg to outside rein. I am making myself vulnerable here as I know many of you have had this ingrained and it is practised absolutely everywhere.
The problem is not the notion itself, but the misunderstanding when put into practice. The inside leg creates bend and the outside rein receives and acts as a boundary, as a result the inside rein lightens. So far so good. In reality it very quickly creates too much pressure and increases the risk of the horse shortening the neck and creating a false head tilt.
Let us dive a little deeper. The anatomy of the connection of the horses skull to the first vertebrae is a swivel joint. That means the horse can turn the head at that joint by a rotation, a swivel. Turning right, the forehead and nose turn inwards right, and the jaw outwards left. As riders we have to ensure that we facilitate and enable this to happen, or the following vertebrae are at risk of rotating the wrong way and we create resistance and brace. That first joint is the locomotive, if that joint is jammed , then the long train of vertebrae don’t stand a chance of following in harmony
I invite you to clearly visualise the correct position of a horses head in a right turn, nose slightly in, jaw out. Now visualise how the bit sits in the mouth at this moment, the outer left side slightly higher and more forward that the left. As riders, it is our job to facilitate for this to happen by mirroring how the bit should sit in the mouth with our hands. So, outside left hand slightly higher and more forward that the inside hand. The hands of the rider supporting the bit to lay comfortably in the horses mouth, allowing the head’s correct flexion.
The intelligent reader will have started to understand the dangers of the standard command(ment) inside leg to outside rein. It invites the rider to hold onto the outside rein, often with a lower hand, creating a shortening of the neck often perceived as softening. It also invites the rider to ride with a uneven contact, a soft inside rein and bend into the outside rein might feel good for the rider, but it’s whether logical nor comfortable for the horse. Try visualise how the bit sits in the mouth with uneven pressure and a wrong tilt, how confusing for the horse!
Ask Manolo about inside leg to outside rein and he rolls his eyes “we’re making it too complicated for the horse”
If you would like to work on this, riding with a straight bar snaffle in your hands is a great tool, 💡 lightbulb moments are guaranteed

When you send a horse to us, here are a few things you need to know about how we train our horses.

We spend time getting to know and read your horse from the ground (this is a essential part before we start any ridden work ) we can assess , movement restrictions, unevenness, any behaviour issues (both pain related & mentally ).

We may request your horse have some form of body work , farrier work , dental work , if you have no already covered all these bases.

We may also request that your gear be altered , or saddle be assessed by one of our 2 professional saddle fitters.

We use NO forceful training , we work with the horse to ensure your horse is 100% mind,body and soul so they can continue on when they leave us.

We communicate with you at all times if we have any concerns , so you need to be open to any communication and request we may have in regards to your horse at any given time, your horse is treated like one of our own & we pride our selves on this as we leave no stone unturned as the horse comes first in every given situation.

Emily is always up-skilling , taking lessons , attending clinics of all kinds and learning to improve what she can offer your horses and hers.

We will never rush a horse , even if a client has a time frame we will always try to improve the horse without causing any problems or rushing the training to get the most beneficial outcome for any horse, we will send our clients horses or any of our retraining horses to their new homes / owners with the tools to continue on with their training , don’t forget if your within a 1 hours range of us or willing to travel Emily offers 2 lessons after they head home to you as part of any of her training packages to ensure your on the right track with your horse

We spent Friday and Saturday at a manolo Mendez clinic , learning from a master of horsemanship , we took so much away from the clinic & have so much to work on with our horses , absolutely love working along side & learning from manolo and is all for the horses no matter what 🦄🐴❤️

EAC Animal Care gut & immune health optimiser has made a world of difference to several of our horses since starting to use their products.

Below is our favourite (personal ) gelding nights watch - aka swatchy , swatchy has been on box rest for 10 days so far , he was not a happy Chappy with weight loss and intermittent lameness so on our vets advise was put on box rest until the 11th of April when he will have further x-rays to see when he can return to work.
Since starting on EAC gut & immune health optimiser he has picked up weight and has a fabulous shine with a happy horse the results speak for them selves with this product & the feeding rate is amazing.
we also have several other horses on this product who are also starting to look wonderful and are much happier horses.
Can not recommend this company or their products enough.

A week ago kalo didn’t know how to lunge , a week of ground work and learning and he happily walk,trots and canters both way on the lunge rope , today we introduced kalo to the hose , he has never been hosed in his life , he handled it pretty well , taking baby steps with this young gelding to make sure he understands everything asked of him ❤️🦄🐴🙏⭐️

Is thicker wind so not the worlds next Olympic jumper but don’t let that put you off as it does not affect him at all he Pull out of the paddock and ride all day not a worry in the world.

Walk with a nice over track , lovely floaty trot and the slowest comfiest canter Ever.
Needs a kind soft handed rider would be suitable for a rider intermediate or above as he is still green and only young. NO BEGINNERS.

Up to date with teeth , feet & worming.

this gelding has is all happening and is going to make someone very happy , used to kids , sheep , dogs , cars, motorbikes etc.

Woody never made the race track only did race prep work.

We’ve hacked him out on the rail trail with no issue at all.
