Wiggie was unable to return to her previous owners and is now a beloved family member. She loves her walk, and her cuddles!

JESS ADOPTION or FOSTER

4-year-old desexed female pure Australian Kelpie ‘Jess’ is running out of options. Currently, our shelter is full and we have no available foster-carers. To date, Jess has been a farm dog who has experience with gently running cattle.

Jess is an affectionate sweetheart. She would thrive with a dedicated companion who could provide her with some further training, and some lovin’ ‘n’ fun. She walks well on-leash and loves hanging out indoors with some creature comforts.

She is pretty obedient and comes when called. Socially, she is OK with other dogs, but she is definitely more of a people dog. She becomes possessive of her person and can lash out at other dogs if they steal some of her attention. For this reason she would be best suited to a one-dog household.

It's finally time for me to say goodbye to Northern Rivers Dog Walking and hand over the leash to its new fantastic owners (I'm sure Kahn and Lauren will be introducing themselves here very soon!).

Before I go, I wanted to give a huge thank you and express my appreciation for all the support over the years. I have been blessed with the opportunity to know so many beautiful dogs, and their memories will stick with me for a long, long time. We've been through lockdowns and floods, and your dogs have made turning up for work always worth it ❤️

I might not be your friendly neighbourhood dog walker anymore, but I'll still be around! In 2025, I am moving full-time into my dog training business, . So feel free to reach out, whether for training advice, or to just share dog photos 😁

Looking forward to a new adventure in 2025!

📣BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

I have a big update regarding our operations next year. Over December/January, our two awesome walkers Avena and Caitlin will be moving interstate. Facing the decision of whether to rehire as been challenging, as it is hard to find staff as dedicated and great as them. Instead, I have decided to put Northern Rivers Dog Walking up for sale, in hopes of finding someone as passionate and caring, who can put their full focus into the business. For myself, my focus is on growing my dog training business, Kindred Paws Animal Training.

I want to promise that I will endeavour to find someone who will maintain our current excellent services and make the transition as smooth as possible. I will be offering the buyer a few weeks of training in all aspects of the business, and will ensure they are a good fit for the role.

On a personal note, I want to thank you all for not just trusting me with the care of your fur babies, but helping me improve my dog handling skills, business running skills, and for giving me what has been a life-changing adventure of running Northern Rivers Dog Walking. When I first started the business, I had been doing a little bit of dog training for Petbarn but didn't have the confidence to jump straight into a training venture. Dog walking has given me so much more understanding of dog body language, how dogs learn, the human factors, and so much more.

So lastly, just a big THANK YOU to all our clients. Please also give your dogs a big hug from us as a thank you - my walkers and myself feel so honoured to be their friends and one of the humans in their lives. If you have any questions regarding the sale of the business, please feel free to reach out. In the meantime everything will be running as normal 😊

We think walks are pretty important, and I'm sure your dog would agree!

Sadly the dogs at our local shelter are missing out due to a lack of volunteers. If you have some free time they would absolutely appreciate it, however, you can also sponser a dog walk. This means the dogs can have a walk with a professional to not only give them some much need love and enrichment, but also help them with socialisation and manners so they become more adoptable.

No time to spare? Why not sponsor a dog walk instead?

A donation of as little as $36 can mean one of our centre dogs receives a walk from a paid dog walker.

At the moment, we are low on volunteers. All our dogs receive daily enrichment in our off leash agility yard. However, often times we fall short of being able to walk every dog at the centre.

Being able to go out on a walk gives them a change of pace from the usual routine.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
