TICK ALERT

Why does the Northern rivers have the highest cases of ticks in Australia.
Why you ask.
Well it’s because of the Christmas Beetles. Around November December the Christmas Beetles appears , they breed lay their eggs in the ground then die. Around July August the eggs start to become larvae which is a fantastic source of food for the bandicoot. The Bandicoot can carry upwards of 200 ticks or more at one given time. While digging wholes in your garden and feasting on the larvae just one scratch can leave 30 + ticks in your garden for your dog or cat to walk over while out for their morning toilet. This is the best time for the bandicoot to dig deep due to the wet weather we are having. I can’t stress enough that you make sure that your dog or cat is up to date with its Nextguard spectra and Bravecto or even simpatico. This is not about grooming, this is about being a responsible pet owner. But saying that it does help if your dog is groomed and not matted so ticks can be found easily.

So please I urge you all to check your dog or cat is covered with the correct dose of tick prevention. Every vet clinic has weighing scales and sells tick prevention products, we also have weighing scales that you can use, just pop in get your dog weight sorted out before you purchase your tick prevention. So please please please check your cupboard and make sure you have your tick control. Most of you should have not stopped taking this prescription because it is a monthly or 3 months medication for life. But I know of some owners that don’t use it all year round and then it’s too late.

It’s been a trying 5 months with the closure of Terania st bridge, but today we have the chance to voice our concerns, you will hear us on A Current Affair tonight from 7.00 to 7.30 channel 9, all the local businesses in this street and north Lismore have done everything possible to try and get this bridge removed asap so the road can re open. Tullura , modanville and dunoon residents must also be over it, not forgetting nimbin. So fingers crossed we hope that they listen to us.

LittleTilly came in yesterday for a winter haircut, her mum takes fantastic care of her but did not want her fur to get out of control over the next few months of winter. Tilly had a winter haircut not short, but very manageable for her mum to keep her knot free and looking good. Such a beautiful little girl Tilly was.
So come on in and have a winter pamper (no need to go short) and stay in great coat condition for the next two months of winter.

The winter months are upon us. It’s time to take control of your dogs skin/coat/hygiene care. Like us we bath/shower all throughout the winter, your dog also needs to be washed and brushed and kept clean.
For a small price it’s well worth a visit to totally dogs to get your dog pampered, a lovely warm hydro bath and a brush out will help keep the knots from getting out of control. We can also give your dogs a haircut without having to go short, this will also help you maintain their coat.
Don’t forget that their nails will need a mana cure and a hygiene cut to keep them fresh and clean to sleep on your bed at night. They are your best mate so look after them.

A fantastic sunny Monday morning, let’s all be positive today, now I have your attention it’s time to plan ahead for your dogs over the winter months, June July and August can get get somewhat cold for our dogs, first thing first, make sure they have raised beds with a few warm blankets, and out of the draft, now as for the conditions of coats, if you maintain them over the winter you will not have to clip them down in spring. A good bath and de shed it what they will need every 4 weeks. And a very good brushing, as for the ones that would like to have a haircut it’s ideal to still have it done but not as short as a summer haircut. We can keep your dogs free from matting just simply by making an appointment for a winter groom or a beautiful warm hydro bath and brush out, don’t forget about the nails.

A few days away at the bearded collie specialist show and the schnauzer specialist show and also the Sydney royal Easter show, my dogs did me very proud, lots of ribbons and prizes. But most of all the girls held the fault for me in the shop and did a fantastic job. So huge success all around, my dogs are groomed and maintained at totally dogs .
