We are fully booked for the holiday season, with availability from mid-January onward for shearing. Please ensure you book online via our website or call 1300 370 458, as Facebook bookings will NOT be accepted from 2025.

Ensure you book your sheep in now for crutching so you don't miss out this year. Getting your sheep in for crutching will help minimise the risk of flystrike!

NOTE:
We are not taking shearing bookings for next season. Bookings will open in JULY 2025. We are only taking bookings for the current shearing season and crutching for 2025.

The team at Jono’s Sheep Services are seeking a skilled allrounder in the sheep industry who's self motivated, an intermediate/skilled shearer, work independently, enthusiastic and is personable with clients.

Our business is client focused and specialists in assisting hobby farmers and small commercial farmers in managing their small flocks of sheep and other livestock. We have a high standard of practice and pride in our services, striving to provide the highest quality we can for all our valued clients.

A little about the job:

- You’ll need to have good time management skills to be able to finish all assigned jobs for the day to be completed within your rostered hours.
- Most jobs are hands on, where you’ll be required to work with a variety of animals, in different environments and conditions (not a typical shearing shed scenario), working with the means to provide a wide variety of services at a high standard.
- Our range of jobs we offer, but are not limited to; sheep & alpaca shearing; hoof trimming, vaccinations & drenching; crutching; yarding animals for clients; and more.
- Pay is per hour, not per sheep, as we want to ensure you’re paid for your work ethic, care you put into your work and the value you add to the team.
- The work provided by Jono’s Sheep Services isn’t seasonal, as there is the opportunity to join the work team at small country shows across the state, as well as some other farm odd jobs.
- You won’t always need to work weekends, any rostered weekend is a Saturday only, however is a short day, as we understand that weekends are for relaxing!

Minimum requirements for applications:
- Able to shear a sheep cleanly and confidently in a variety of work environments and conditions.
- Have/use a smart phone.
- Hold a valid drivers licence and can drive a manual if needed, drive/reverse a large trailer in tight areas.
- Previous experience working with a variety livestock and an understanding of good animal husbandry.
- Comfortable working long days that include some long distance driving, lifting up to 80kg animals, and yarding in uneven terrain.
- Having a work dog is not required but an additional bonus to add to the team.

Attention to all our valued clients,

Sadly, we have come to the need in having to write this post regarding customer etiquette towards our staff members.

As we are coming into our peak of the shearing season, our team members are working extremely hard to get to all appointments that have been prebooked online done, to our high standards.
Our team are working nearly 7 days a week, with 12-hour long days, sometimes without an adequate rest between jobs.

We understand sometimes customers haven’t booked in early or have assumed they are booked for the following year, without having had a conversation to confirm this.
As our availability is now 2 months out, we do understand that it can be frustrating that we cannot do your job as early as you hoped.
However, this does not mean we will tolerate abuse either verbally over the phone, in messages or in person. We have been receiving quite a substantial amount in the past few weeks, so we now feel the need to make it very clear about how we will be going forward regarding this issue.

• If you use unjust (swearing) language toward our staff, we will not be going forward with your booking, as we will not tolerate this behaviour on the day either.
• Our waitlist is extremely long, and we do not have wriggle room for small number jobs, as our team are human and deserve days off and well earnt rest too.
• If we need to reschedule your appointment (as per our T&C’s) due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will try our best to get you in as early as possible. Note that we may be giving up our days off to do this for you, so please be polite about us fitting you in where possible.

We value all our clients and want to continue a sustainable business for all of you. But all the while, maintaining a healthy work-life balance for our employees, this includes mental health as well as physical. And we appreciate your support in this.

Great news for clients in Clare and the surrounding areas - we have a day saved just for you to get your sheep/alpacas done in December! 😲

If you live in Clare or surrounding greater Northern suburbs, you can book in with us for Saturday, December 21st to have your sheep/alpacas shorn and any other related services you require.

Please either call 1300 370 458 or message us on Facebook to book in. A $70 deposit is required upon booking to secure your place (this is then deducted from your total bill on the day).

Feel Good Friday 🥳

Thank you Skye for such a lovely review with how we could help you with your wild and woolly, free roaming ewes. We're sure the girls are feeling much better without their fleece on, such a weight off their shoulders! (Approx 20kg per animal was our guess!) 🐑😲

No matter how hard the terrain, amount of kangaroos bounding around or attempts to capture sheep, the team are willing to persevere and get the job done. 😄
