Little bit cold in longford this week.🥶
💕 Feel-Good Friday! 💕
These gorgeous bundles were born nearly two weeks ago, with a little late-night help from Dr Helen and Dr Jac. It's wonderful to see them and their mum, Ella, doing so well after an emergency caesarian - the puppies doubled their birth weight in a week! 😍
Grass-seed alert! 🌾 We have been seeing many dogs with these in their ears - it’s very painful! Look out for head shakes or head tilts in your pet or working dogs 🧐 Gen removed six sharply-pointed seeds from poor Lola’s ears recently, ouch!
Meet Lunar... By Codie Karalta 🐎 with some assistance from Sam and his former boss Colleen Stewart (back when he was working at Scottsdale Veterinary Services Pty Ltd). This gorgeous little filly was 8 years in the making! 💫 Mum proved to be a difficult mare to get in foal, but after a uterine biopsy and specific treatment for her condition she finally completed a full gestation. Owner Kent Rattray is over the moon 🌝 as are we to see her safely foaled and doing great!
Sam had a busy day testing the fertility of bulls 😳 for a local farmer. This is a really important service, as an infertile bull can mean no (or less) calves and a wasted breeding season...! Even if you have a lot of bulls (like this farmer!) the number of bulls 🐂🐂🐂 is based on the number of cows 🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄 to serve - plus in the past cows were often blamed for being 'infertile' when the bull may have been at fault! Having bulls tested pre-joining is a cheap insurance policy for farmers to show they can do their important job properly 🤗 Give us a call for a price on bull testing! Here's to #happycows
I’m memory of Edweiner. We removed our original post out of respect to Edweiner’s family, but they are keen to keep her memories alive and have asked us to repost. It was awful to replace the euphoria shown in this video with the tragedy that followed. Despite everything we did to try and save her, Edweiner passed away last week. Our thoughts are with Tammi and family, and their gorgeous little pups, and our thanks go to their new foster mother and family for their kind, generous and timely support.
This friendly hound presented yesterday with an unusual condition called ‘subcutaneous emphysema’. She suffered an unknown trauma (presumably staked herself on a stick?!) to her chest, which tore a hole in her chest cavity and ruptured her left lung - ouch! 😳 As she kept running, the air was pumped out through the hole in her chest and underneath her skin. This blew her skin up like a balloon 🎈 and her owners rushed her into the clinic. It was decided to manage her conservatively, and she is now being carefully monitored by her diligent owners at home 🏡 we hope she makes a full recovery!
Ned & The Bee
We're trying to decide if Ned is lucky or unlucky? He presented today with sudden onset coughing and retching due to a suspected 'bone stuck in throat' 🍖 But the second photo shows the strange lesion we could see in his mouth... The third photo reveals the culprit - a bee sting! 🐝 Shown here enlarged down the microscope - Ned is much happier now it's been removed! 🤗
Harmony
Happy New Year everyone filled with health, laugh and joy!
In memory of Sally the great mice hunter.
Sally was getting slow and her painful arthritic joints prevented her from moving too much. After number of K-laser treatment sessions, she was pain free again and able to get back to her favorite activity - catching mice. The family cats were so sneaky that let Sally to find the mice and had an easy catch when Sally didn't succeed finishing the job. What great happy last weeks of Sally's life and great memories opening her Christmas presents.
