The farm
Conveniently located just 17 km south of Hobart, we can efficiently supply Hobart outlets. We are on the way to Huonville via Huon Rd and 100m from Longley International Hotel. Nestled on river flats beside Mt Wellington National Park, our produce, grown using organic methods, is pesticide and chemical free. We use Microfarming techniques involving constant crop cultivation and rotation
without the use of any heavy machinery. This ensures healthy bio-active soils resulting in higher disease resistance and more nutrient dense food crops. Food production occurs over 4 ½ acres, the remaining 7 acres comprises native forest, heathland and river flats. We have successfully implemented major w**d removal and regeneration programs on our property, which is a haven for wildlife, birds and insects. Our logo is based on the characteristic leaf of the Guitar plant, a Tasmanian native plant growing on our property. The farmers
Longley Organic Farm is a small family business. Operating for 10 years it is owned and managed by myself Hermione and my partner James together with our two children. Our favourite dish is to harvest a little of many different fresh greens, herbs and other seasonal produce from the garden, chop them up fine and throw them into an omelette with fresh local free range eggs. The farming
We value working close to the earth in a diverse ecosystem, for sustainable local organic food production and our own wellbeing. We provide vegetables and berries for local restaurants, small shops and food cooperatives. We also sell direct to the public from our rustic roadside honesty shop with solar powered glass door fridge. Additionally we sell food plants and nursery supplies, assisting others to produce their own food whilst retaining heritage and heirloom plant stock
We provide affordable organic food at a local level, a food hub in our local community and a sustainable enterprise for our family. We value sharing knowledge and skills for sustainable food production. Our Permacultural organic farm provides berries and vegetables from the farm gate as well as for local food cooperatives, and shops. We grow and sell berries from December to April, first Raspberries, then Blackberries, then Blueberries. We have Berry Jams year round, as well as dried herbs and herbal teas. Seasonally garlic, potatoes, spring onions, silverbeet, beetroot, zucchini pumpkin, lettuce mix, fresh basil, parsley and coriander, and many other vegetables and herbs. We also grow and sell plants and nursery supplies from our farm gate, including seasonal vegetable seedlings, herbs, berry plants and native plants. Nursery supplies include composting worms, Biochar, Complete Organic Fertiliser and Vegan Complete Organic Fertiliser, Potting Mix and Wormsol Soil Conditioner.
