To keep everyone up to date.

Council has verbally retracted the 14 days but nothing in writing. They will come back to me with their decision after they have an internal investigation on what rules they can enforce.

Regardless of what they come back with my animals are not for sale or rehoming. I am prepared to go to court to fight for their right to live at their current home.

I am looking into the council’s E-petition at the moment as that may give them an idea of how many people are in support of us & help encourage them to find a resolution.

Long post so I apologise in advance for having to read it. I thought about not posting this as I know I am in the right to have the animals here & Mackay Regional Council have no grounds to issue these letters but I haven’t slept all night & I have family dramas so I’m angry right now with the added stress this BS has brought unnecessarily into my life.

Mackay Regional Council in previous years have known that I have “existing use rights” which in simple terms means the property can continue to be used in the manner for which is was allowed to be used before the council rezoned the area to residential & before they brought in their maximum number of animals & poultry allowed to be kept. It was actually council that informed me of this fact originally many years ago. However even after telling the current council this they failed to investigate & decided to issue an eviction notice.

Love that their letter is full of mistakes as well but anyway that’s what you get when you pay the big bucks 😂

So in short the Mackay Regional Council expect me to reduce the poultry numbers to 6 in total including chickens, ducks, geese & turkeys. And reduce the livestock number to 1 according to their new rules but the letter wrongly says 6 or maybe that is them being considerate but verbally they said 1. They are also are stating the wrong allotment sizes to justify their eviction but hey again who cares don’t let the truth affect your power trip.

So in 14 days from yesterday don’t be expecting the animals to be gone because they won’t be, I will take it to court if I need to but they will not be leaving this property while I am still alive.

Maybe I will start a petition but I really don’t feel it’s necessary I am right they are wrong. Thanks for taking the time to read, welcome to a day in my life.

Hope all our followers had an awesome Christmas.

Starting next week we will be having a mix of open days for family visitors & also Farm Experience days where you can drop your school age child off for 3 hours for them to experience the work that goes into having farm animals under full supervision.

Keep an eye out for updates but likely starting on Tuesday 31st.

Expression of Interest post.

During these school holidays would anyone be interested in giving their kids a “farm” experience day.

We have bluecards & grown children of our own & are thinking of offering a type of supervised school holiday care in the way of the “farm” experience.

It could be sessions morning/afternoon or full day.

Kids will feed animals, rake, shovel & general clean up of animal areas. Cleaning water troughs. Some gardening chores, possibly moving fences, some animal health & welfare jobs.

Not all working will be relaxed & plenty of time for safe interactions with animals & rest.

Every year the black cockatoos come to the paddock for the macadamia nuts. This year they have a baby. She’s beautiful. Copying what mum does all the time.

TROPPO MARKETS THIS SUNDAY 8am to 11.30am. $5 entry $1 feed. Still a few of these little cuties needing to find their forever homes.

Well that’s it school holidays is over I would like to thank everyone that came to visit & appreciate our pets. We try to make things better each time & are always looking for new ideas & suggestions so feel free to send a message if you have anything to share. Many thanks to my mate the Kangaroo aka Geri cause these days wouldn’t be able to happen without her dedication! I’m always saying I will open for playgroup after holidays but then I always get too busy. If you are keen for a playgroup morning once or twice a month let me know & if there is enough interest Geri will make sure it happens 🤪

LAST DAY OF OPEN DAYS TODAY 9.30am to 12.30pm. Pippa had her babies early this morning so that is a great opportunity to see & cuddle tiny miniature piglets a few hours old. Donation of $7 per person to enter. Lots to see, pat & cuddle!

Surprise babies for today’s visitors. Peppa is a very proud mummy & doesn’t mind sharing cuddles of her babies. Hopefully her sister Pippa’s litter will be born before Thursdays visitors.
