Wishing you a paws-itively awesome valentines day to all our human friends and furry friends! Life is short, spread your kindness around and make the world would be a better place💝
So, how many hours a day does your dog snooze? Most dogs spend around 12-14 hours a day sleeping - talk about beauty sleep! But did you know your dog has some serious superpowers? Not only can they hear and smell better than humans, but they can also see way better in the dark! It's all thanks to a special membrane in their eyes that's like a built-in flashlight. And with more rods in their eyes than humans, they're like little nighttime superheroes!
We are thrilled to welcome Moo the moodle. Moo has achieved remarkable progress in a short time. Initially cautious around men, we have been successful in overcoming some of these obstacles - and she has certainly found her place within the doggy daycare environment😊
We welcome Ralf the groodle into the K9 pack, where he is quickly fitting in and enjoying his play time😊
Today's session involved working with Moo, affectionately nicknamed due to her moodle nature😊To address Moo's fear of men, we established clear ground rules for male interactions, prioritizing trust-building and respect for her personal space. The rules were uncomplicated: no talking, touching, or staring- staring is like engaging in a conversation.A key strategy involved positioning oneself at the dog's level. This approach yielded a positive outcome, as Moo initiated contact, marking a significant accomplishment in a single session. This behaviour was rewarded."Well I've never seen that before!"uttered the owner😆
Mum is doing a great job of demonstrating to Moose, a 75 kg+ Great Dane, the importance of remaining calm before receiving what he wants. When mum picks up Moose along with the kids for daycare pick up, the kids have been instructed on how to assist, enabling Moose to settle down quickly. This approach focuses on educating the youth, so when pick-up occurs, they implement the strategy of ignoring Moose until he is completely calm.We call the game"I dont have a dog game!"-no touching,no talking and no looking.Thereby transforming a potentially hazardous situation into an enjoyable experience for all.😊
In our high-energy group today, it is vital to wait for energy levels to decrease before giving the dogs what they want when entering daycare. Opie, the older Staffy, demonstrates calm behavior when entering daycare, calmly walking in while the daycare dogs settle within 20 seconds. Harvey, a younger groodle, requires more time to settle, but achieving a calmer state of mind is crucial for safety. Harvey's shake-off upon entering daycare indicates that he is calming himself down. As a dog owner, what strategies can you employ? When engaging in exciting activities like food, walks, or dog park visits, prioritize calmness-it's just a matter of waiting.By doing so, you are teaching your dog that calmness is essential to receive what they want😊

Welcome back🎉🎊🎉
We are all aware of the expression 'But he's friendly!'😜 Nevertheless, what is actually necessary is a dog that is neutral and well-balanced, able to co-exist peacefully with humans and other dogs. In addition, such a dog should possess the ability to check in with owner, follow instructions, both when on and off lead. A video featuring daycare dogs serves as an illustration - aside from the initial introduction, most of these dogs display the ability to listen to instructions.
As responsible dog owner we have a choice to allow especially our teenage dogs to greet every dog they come across, it becomes an expectation and a sure fire way for you to be dragged to every dog they encounter!
What alot of fun had in puppy classes tonight! Incorporating dress-ups, ball pits, tunnels, and numerous socialization/exposure activities. We also placed significant emphasis on vital skills such as mat training and the recall.
