🌟🐾 We Need Towels 🐾🌟

At K9 Rescue Group, we are always striving to provide the best care for our dogs. Right now, we are in need of towels to help keep our dogs clean and comfortable during their time in the kennels 🐾

If you have any old bath towels, beach towels, or even dog towels that you can donate, it would make a huge difference for our dogs 🌟

TIMELY REMINDER..
It’s that scary time of the year - and we're not talking about Halloween! 🎃👻
Snake season is certainly upon us. 🐍🐍
Please be vigilant when walking your pets and keep your yard tidy.
Yesterday Nurse Karen had the fright of her life when she came home to find her pooch had munched on a dugite! 😬
Unfortunately this snake did not survive the ordeal, found to be deceased.
It was however very lucky for Karen's dog that she did not require treatment for a bite.
To assist in providing a visual awareness for pet owners we have Nurse Marilyn pictured here holding the snake.
If there's a chance that your pet has been struck by a snake do not hesitate to get them to your closest Vet for the best chance of survival.

🐕 ☀️ 🐾 Some very important information...

That escalated quickly! A week of temps in the mid-thirties is on its way and it's important we keep our pets safe in the heat! 🥰🐶

The two most common heat-related welfare reports we receive every year are people walking their dogs on hot roads, footpaths, and beach sand, and dogs being left in hot cars. 😰

This is a reminder to please protect your hound and check the ground before a walk, and to never leave your pet in a parked car.

Before you take your dog out for your walk, check the surface temperature by placing your palm down on the ground. If you can't comfortably hold it there for five seconds, it's too hot for your dog's sensitive paws and may cause injury. ♨️

If you need to go for a drive, leave your dog at home where there is shade and plenty of water, where you know they will be safe. There is no excuse for leaving them locked in a car.

Let's keep our best friends safe. Help us spread the word. It's the first truly warm week of the season - let's safely enjoy the sunny weather together. 🥰

✅️🐕 Waiting Room Etiquette 🐱✅️
For the safety of all clients, staff & other patients, as well as to help keep our waiting area clean we kindly ask for you to ensure that when bringing your pets in for their visit you have them appropriately restrained at ALL times. This is super important!
All cats must be contained in an enclosed carrier & all dogs on a short leash.
We encourage dogs to be taken to the lawn area before heading into the clinic in case they may need to toilet. Should you require a disposal poo bag please ask our staff. Should your pet make a bit of a toilet mess in our waiting room, please be sure to notify reception staff asap. 🐾
We thank you for your understanding & assistance. 🙂
Kind Regards, Greenfields Vet Hospital

Beautiful Bridie! 😍
It's definitely the season.. Bridie here had a bit of a roll in the dry grass recently & after this she became tender in her ears. She was crying.
It was too painful for her when Dr Vanessa tried to have a thorough look while she was awake. It was decided that Bridie needed to have a sedation.
While under sedation we were able to perform a good ear exam & as a result, some wax build up along with a large grass seed was visualised & able to be removed. 🌾
Bridie recovered very well, took home some medicine & is now back living her best life!

Has your dog ever had a grass seed stuck where it shouldn't be?

Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️
