🐍 If only ALL snakes were this harmless!

🩺 What to do if you find your pet with a snake:

❌ Keep a safe distance between you and the snake and try to call your pet away
🐍 Most snakes want to flee or hide from predators and if left alone will pass through your backyard without worry

❌ Monitor your pet closely
🐶 Dogs usually develop signs of illness within 1-12 hours after a snake bite
🐱 Cats may only develop signs of illness 24-48 hours after a snake bite

❌ Contact your vet if:
🐶 Dogs show any signs of:
- muscle shaking or weakness
- vomiting, diarrhoea, or uncontrolled urination
- unusual vocalisation
- pale gums, or dark urine
- collapse
🐱 Cats show any signs of:
- unusual meow
- salivation
- weakness in back legs
- paralysis, or unable to sit, stand, or walk

❌ Treatment is available by using snake antivenom 🩺
The sooner your pet gets veterinary attention and antivenom the better the outcome for survival ❤️‍🩹

🩺 Welcoming Dr. Carrie to our Manilla Vet Clinic team 🙌

Originally from the Manilla area, Dr. Carrie studied Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in Gatton.

Upon graduating as a Veterinarian, Dr. Carrie worked for a few years in a mixed practice in central Queensland, before returning to Manilla with her partner, John.

Since being back, Dr. Carrie worked at Manilla Vet Clinic before taking some time off for maternity leave, where she and John welcomed a beautiful daughter into their family.

Returning from maternity leave Dr. Carrie has once again joined the Manilla Vet Clinic team and we are thrilled to have her with us!

Dr. Carrie enjoys being kept busy in all aspects of mixed practice here in Manilla.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Carrie yet, pop in and say hello! 😊
