Allowing dogs to meet every dog they encounter can actually lead to increased reactivity in dogs. This is because when dogs are constantly allowed to approach and interact with other dogs, they can become overly excited and may develop negative behaviors such as barking, lunging, or even biting. 😨

In addition, not all dogs are social creatures and may become anxious or aggressive when forced to interact with other dogs. This can result in dangerous situations for both the dogs and their owners.

It is important to note that socialization does not mean allowing dogs to meet every other dog they encounter. Socialization should involve exposing dogs to a variety of people, environments, and experiences in a positive and controlled manner.

Rather than allowing dogs to meet every dog they see, it is important for owners to recognize their dog's individual temperament and behavior around other dogs.
Not every dog is a social butterfly 🦋 and would prefer sticking to themselves or a selected few, it is your job to understand what your dogs needs are.

Dogs who display reactivity or aggression towards other dogs should be managed and trained accordingly, and interactions with other dogs should be carefully controlled and supervised.

Overall, it is important to prioritize the safety and well-being of both your dog and other dogs when considering socialization and interactions with other dogs. 🐕🧘

Counter surf while cooking/stare at you while eating?
Barge through doors/gates any chance they get?

The place/stay command is an essential command that will teach your dog to settle down in any situation and relax on cue. Giving your dog a calmer healthier state of mind. 🧘

The PLACE/STAY command is simply teaching your dog to go to a specific place, such as their bed, mat or a place board with the command “place” “go to your bed” etc. Keep in mind a simple “lay down” is not the same as PLACE.
The dog must stay in a calm, relaxed mindset and can only step off their designated spot until commanded to do so with a simple “Okay!” “Yes” “Off” etc.

TREATS TREATS TREATS! Give your dog plenty of high value treats when teaching this command
while on their spot as well as when released! Slowly wean the treats out once your dog understands their job, If your dog steps off their place a firm “No” and return them back.

Teaching place while watching tv, cooking, even when you’re waiting for your jug to boil. Just a few minutes of training a day goes a long way! 🙌✨
