Completion... Add fish and seeds

10th installment: Patio roofs @ 45 degrees north facing.....

Can anyone answer why?

Everything was really starting to come together🤠. The arrival of the Deutz (big green) was exciting...I hadnt seen it before purchase but with Christys 3.seperate viewings 🤪 in Margs and the 👍 I bought it! Cheers Ben!!! I almost fell over when it was delivered..It really is massive! First thing I did was clear more land along dam and get some burn piles ready.... It also happens to be my favourite time of year, Spring 🌻 so i made the use of the changing weather and started the roof over the front. This was a bloody hard task and had to make those half trusses in situ! Managed though amd it has changed the way I live down here! Adding some clear.sheet to let the light in the house durring winter. However now laying in the hammock gets a bit too hot....😂🤣😂🤣😂 first world problems aye!!!

9th installment: Backhoe & shower.

Spring was beginning to Ramp up just as my new Backhow arrives (ol yella)! Perfect timing😁. She is a beast of a machine and has helped a lot already, but she needs constant love and care as she is gettin on in years! I am absolutely stoked with how much I can do with the machine! This month I was also able to score a shower pan from a client for a carton of chooks (beer)...champion of a bloke! So thought I better get my new showering area sorted! Away with the bread crate and stones and in with super advanced drainage resulting in 🤪. Again, it truley is the simple things!!! Oh and Brucey has his new kennel installed (the small water tank looking thing)... he was roaming alot back then and neighboirs were beginning to get annoyed, so I had to do it... 6 months later Brucey doesnt really leave my side...unless he is out chasing roos or horses.

8th Lot: Additional comforts

This was an enjoyable month for so many reasons!! I began to feel at ease with everything and did a bit of exploring. I started to enclose the inside..not just for aesthetics but for extra warmth (those bits of timber are just mill off cuts). AND THE DECK!!!! I actually shed a tear after that photo was taken!! Ive made plenty of decks in my time, but this one although very small was mine!!! And it gave me the place i adore with a view over Lake Thelma😁. Further along in the photo you will see my rough head again and its not pretty...but this is when the body demanded a rest... i got very sick and had to spend about 8 days in bed! Sooo crook!!! I guess thats whats happens after burning the candle at both ends since Novemeber!! Lastly the photo of the horse shoe and pocket watch is from a little bit of metal detecting i did on the lower part of the property...turns out I have an old first settlers site on my land, unbelievable.. ill post my other finds later, its soooo awesome to have some settlers history to detect on. This property has it all and I am extremely greatful to be apart of its story🤠 @ Northcliffe, Western Australia

7th Lot: winter is here.and its bloody cold!

This month did not lend itself to much in the way of home improvements! So i decided o stay warm by clearing a bit more land (by hand). As you can see on the edge of the dam i cut trees down in such a way they would fall in the dam to create hides for my rainbow trout and marron. I also wanted to take a moment away from the constant work on the humpy (small dwelling) and enjoy my surroundings...this has proved to be harder than i thought actually. Trying tp find the balance between making something productive and comfortable and making time for down time...is always a challenge! However this month a couple of us did go for a day out 4wdricing and believe we found a river the hard way!!

7th Lot: Windows and Doors

Moving my furniture in was such an achievement... (@ this point I need to thank Jasmine for all of her help, cleaning, moving, unpacking, support etc...champion!!!!) Now It was feeling like home more and more! It all came together in perfect timing due to it being the beginning of winter. No longer had I moved my.furniture in, I found those ridiculously heavy jarrah windows on Gumtree.. from a house in Shenton Park for $15. 😳 and the doors from a guy in Fremantle, wont say wont i paid for them though🤪! In the last pic, with the light on...this is a solar spotlight Id bought from.bunnings that I had to remember to take out every morning to charge so i had light at night... this does cjange as you will see but it served me so well for 8 months!!! It now lives over the vegetable gardens🤠

5th Lot of progress pictures:

Woooohoooo, an actual area to have my hot showers, using a bread crate full of small river stones so as not get muddy feet! Now im clean and warm everynight🥰 it was time to get comfortable, by getting my "living" room in order. Everything seemed to progress very quickly over the next couple of months.. as you will eventually see. And Ive included this picture of Bruce as it was the ladt time he slept inside on that bed, he also upgraded😁

3rd LOT OF PROGRESS PICTURES!! 2nd month in.. at this stage id been moving all of my things from Margaret River (pictured is my sea container that Marks crane made easy work of....full mind you🤪), working in still and trying to get a shelter completed, probably the biggest and most demanding month of my life!! But we got it done. So again id like to thank everyone who pitched in and helped me get to this stage!!! Couldnt have done it without you😃👍. By end of this month id moved down here full time...... First time in my life I've lived somewhere and known I am not going to have/want to leave, Ive never fealt that I actually belong.....BEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE 🥰😃!!! @ Northcliffe, Western Australia

2ND LOT: Moving month and the build begins🤙

In this first month, I would like to thank my brother soooo very much for all of his help and the donatation of his old 6m x 6m shed...cheers Mark... i love you brother x and a big thank you to my neighbour Jason for popping around with his dozer to push up a gravel foundation for my house pad! Id only met him twice...turns out I couldnt have asked for better neighbours!

I've been down here in now for 1 year and 1 month! Over the following days im going to post each day a few photos from each of the months to try and illustrate my journey so far! Its been full of extreme Highs and not as many lows as I had expected...in fact, every little win has given me a sense of pride and fullfillment that has over shadowed any hard times, making every second worth it.
Quick overview: I bought 100acres in the South West with the visiin of becoming completely self sustainable and living completely off grid. To achieve my goals Ive broken them into stages... like shelter, water, food, etc... now these necessities have been somewhat attained I will continue to ellaborate and increase my understanding and skills in regards to them.... futhermore its very important to me that i keep in line with being mindfull of my impact on the world, and thus ive been using materials almost completely recycled and then reusing and repurposing them!!! Apart from a few things, like the components for my solar system. This has been a fun task and really does force you to think outside the box... Ok, ill just show you now!
