Many of my long term followers may recall my story regarding a little pademelon that comes back to my garden every year to deposit a baby with me and then disappears each year, leaving the baby here. Well, she’s back! She has been doing this for about 7 years now. She shows me she is back, following me about and then after a couple of weeks (and some stern words from me reminding her I’m not pademelon childcare!) a little nose may been seen from the pouch and then a little face is shown to me. I tell her “I don’t want to see your baby!” But she knows that’s not the truth. I suspect in a week or so this little one will be allowed out of the pouch to hop about and discover the new child care centre (😂) before mumma paddy disappears and leaves the baby here. Last year the little one was no bigger than a bandicoot when she left it here alone. I couldn’t possibly be mad with these little faces that put their trust in me, even though they destroy my garden to survive.
