There are some horses that leave a deep special imprint on your heart and he is one of those … this is about him and his new owner and not me …I was quite happy to keep him until the end of his days . A beautiful boy adorning my paddock .. but without a job .He was never for sale ..but sometimes a special someone comes into your life and changes your mindset , it feels right that I should give someone else the chance I had .
Womble has done so much for me and others .. building trust and confidence and I love him … but he has still so much to give and no pilot here .
He will live like a King at his new local home and will get all those hugs I have guiltily not been around so much for .
There will always be a home here at BGC if he needs .

Many of the social media horse influencers go on and on about pain in horses. It has become the go-to reason for almost every unwanted behavior in horses. Someone must have started a "I care more than you do" contest about horses and whoever can raise the issue of pain the most wins. Which is not to say that the decline in horsemanship standards, resulting from a lack of interest in horsemanship, has not increased pain in horses. But still, pain is not the cause or answer for everything.
Pain as a cause for many things including bucking is very popular today. In my experience, the most common reason for bucking is instinct. Predators attack from the top. Natural selection has instilled a brainstem instinct in horses to get living beings off their back. Therefore, the solution to not creating a bucking horse is to start or restart a horse carefully from the beginning by backing them correctly so as to remove or overcome their instinct to get rid of you on their back. Backing is a method of laying across a horse's back in stages.
Another often overlooked reason for bucking is exuberance. Smart athletic horses know when they "do it right" and they regularly celebrate with a kick out or a buck. The solution to this is to be ready and able to ride through the kick or buck. If you punish exuberance too severely, you can ruin a good horse.

Ok so that woman there is me .. ignore the self criticism of duck arse and shoulders back … yep I am 50 with the health s**t that goes with that ..but I had to force myself out to do it and so pleased I did ..results matter little unless you are looking for own self goal but sadly my genes didn’t get that memo !
I come from non horsey stock but lucky enough to have parents savvy enough to enable myself and my sister to ride when we could ..
Worked hard and eventually had the time and money for my own unicorn … yep lots of life lessons learnt on the way !
But yes that’s me with my 12 fractured bones ( x2 not horse related ) still crap but riding and feeling like a grown up on my WB at a local dressage comp
and not even being last !
So don’t stop .. don’t care and do what makes you happy 😍

After much procrastination and jelly legs from me we did it ! Stressage 😂 or dressage …with some encouragement from our equestrian community I braved it !

This is why we love Camille Velnaar ! Lollie is off to her new home soon and hadn’t done any loading , very reluctant to even put her feet on the ramp .If you need ground work / loading/ leading/ mounting or ridden help Camille is great with our babies and older horses 😍 Thanks Bec Maskrey you will be a Master too soon at this rate !
