Look away if you donโ€™t like a bit of blood !

Thanks to Ewan Maskrey of KEV who operated on our little silver bay mare Kirah today . Fortunately no emergency today - elective surgery for Kirah .

She had a small umbilical hernia which had enlarged slightly - essentially a small defect in abdominal wall .

A bit of rest and rehab before we get her back into work . Such a little poppet . Always impressed with how vets just get on with it all in the field โ€ฆwas already to jump in and assist with a little retraction or snipping a suture ..not required !

Congratulations ! Hazel and Baxter ! Flying the flag for the Standard Bred โค๏ธ

On Sunday, 30th Nov, Baxter and I competed at the Derwent Valley Horse Rider Association's Unofficial Dressage Day.
We both love going to DVHRA events as they are so very welcoming, and they have such wonderful facilities!
As usual, the day was really relaxed and smoothly run, and everyone was friendly and encouraging
On a personal note, this was a milestone day for me as I truly felt that Baxter and I worked as one. We were both calm and relaxed, especially in our 2nd test, the Elementary 3.2.
Not only was I really happy with our joint performance, but I was even more thrilled by the applause and compliments we received afterwards! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ. That doesn't happen very often for us, lol.
We managed to score 66.4% in the 3.1 and 65.6% in the 3.2 (even though his 3.2 test was, in my opinion, far better than the 3.1 ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ) to place 2nd in both tests behind the VERY worthy winner, Karen Rycroft and her beautiful mare ๐Ÿ˜˜ .
And, as if that wasn't enough, we also won the Elementary Encouragement Award, the Blue Gate Cobs sponsored 'Good Sportsmanship' award and the 'Off the Track' Standardbred award as well!
Dear Baxter really earned his corn cobs, extra feeds and 2 days off!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
