Looking foryour next performance horse ?

NOT STARTED . No beginners !

Jarks Sentimental Dream !

Flashy tobiano sweet boy kind eye

Paint - registered gelding

Excuse scruffy winter coat - pictures few weeks ago and condition picking up each week , but doesnt take much imagination now on a good diet/ minerals to see he is going to be stunning .

Jackson is a 4 yr old gelding
16 hh approx currently with some growth left me thinks ! EHM 16:2/3 ( is an estimate!)
Registered
Legs that go on for ever and an athletic build
He is floaty and he can jump .

He came from his breeders via the auction as they had sadly been hit by the drought
In the weeks he had been with us we have mainly been concentrating on his condition / chip. / teeth/ worming feet/ vacc all up to date

I would like to see him a bit rounder still .

Has had a couple of outings for gtoundwork and settled well considering he has never been anywhere before
Floated well with a companion
He is green and a distracted teenager at times , have had Camille help me get his groundwork established as was pushy/ unsure . There is more to be done with this before I would consider starting him , we will continue the process here .
No nastiness / catching with feed still

Beautiful boy - make great summer project for someone looking for their next performance horse or we will continue on and start him later professionally here .

Shepherds Hill Penny

Just turned 10 yrs
Friesian x Andalusian mare
Registered
15 hh approx

Penny came from SA where she had been a broodmare for a few years having x2 stunning foals - easy / good Mum
Prior to that she was at a trail riding business

She was professionally restarted and going well out alone/ company on trails in light traffic etc
Basics in flatwork but still getting anxious in canter in arena

She is good to handle / float etc can be evasive to catch but bit of feed no issue
Up to date with teeth/ vacc / feet etc

I have heavily r her as I feel she needs a sensitive experienced 🏠to continue her ridden career or again could be a broodmare . I feel she will flourish in a 1:1 environment with the right person . Something we can’t offer here . My loss etc

She has on x 2 episodes - once in a paddock ridden and once on trail had a bolt but pulled up - once with no obvious reason ? adjusting saddle pad, the other when being pushed into canter . Again with consistency and with a 1:1 situation as she builds a relationship , she needs time .

No known health issues / injuries
No beginners / L/ PP .
Margate
As with all my horses open to full vetting at your expense / d/ w trainers involved .

Fascinating !

Did you know that horses can't breathe through their mouth? They can only breathe through their nose, making them an 'obligatory nose breather'.

💡 Did you know - At a canter and gallop, their breaths and strides are actually linked, which means they take one breath for every stride, which is called respiratory-locomotor coupling. So, if their breathing is impacted, their strides will be too.

💡Did you know - horses actually hold their breath when they go over a jump and don't breathe again until they've landed.

It’s that kind of weather in Tas … all animals that are allowed are snuggled up in the dry …
Ironically it seems that just as my mojo for riding and even a little competition has returned the weather has turned to 💩.
I was trying to reflect a bit on why my motivation departed …leading me to feel I was ‘ wasting’ Big Ted - feeling inadequate and not up to his potential talent . All the wise folks pointed out he is hardly disappointed I am not doing high level eventing like his Dad . I can assure you when we come round a bend and he sees the grade 1 fences on XC he doesn’t say “ yes please !” mum … it’s more “ your fu***ng kidding “ ….. yes “ Ted we go around those ones “ .
I am great at telling everyone else to use the ‘ kind voice ‘ we use to those we care and admire to ourselves … not to beat yourself up and feel judged by your decisions .. sometimes the time is just not right and we have to wait … for the confidence , the time , the right horse or sometimes just the weather .
So whatever your challenge is … hold in there … sometimes it’s just a matter of time and perseverance. It may be owning your own horse , getting back in the saddle or competing at Grand Prix .. dont dismiss your goals just because you feel they may be trivial in this crazy world . I can assure you that behind every smiling posing FB photo of the perfect scene there are many more days where nobody wanted their picture taken because of trials and tears …
We have chosen a harsh sport / passion and horses break your heart… but for most if us we dont feel we have a choice !

Don’t give up … we all deserve a little bit of our dreams to come true x

Many a miss spent afternoon in my teens reading her “ horsey “ novels …. Maybe it’s an English thing ? 🤔 but sad to hear of her death and brought back a flood of memories and sun burn from being engrossed in her books 🕶️
