Many thanks to the Sunshine Coast Turf Club and Winx managing owner Peter Tighe for arranging a private luncheon as part of our sponsorship of the “Double R Group Winx Guineas” on Caloundra Cup day. Peter kindly brought along some of the great mare’s trophies to share with us – including the 2018 Cox Plate, the 4th year in succession Winx won our most famous weight for age race! 🎉👏

Double R Thoroughbreds strengthened its partnership with Widden Stud even further this week, purchasing three lovely broodmares in conjunction with Widden at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast. Inclement (pictured) is a half-sister to the outstanding Group 1 winning sprinter Santa Ana Lane, and will make a great addition to the Double R and Widden broodmare band 🐎🎉

We're thrilled to share with you that the final stage of Aspect at Gympie has enjoyed an almost identical response to the market as its predecessors, with Stage 9 selling out within three days of hitting the market!

We've found a large portion of buyers were from the Sunshine Coast, but there was still a healthy trickle of interest from locals and interstate purchasers 🎉👏

Double R Group Directors Ken and Scott were extremely excited to have had a firsthand look at Widden Stud's Stallion - Zousain. The striking son of Zoustar has already sired a lovely filly to Double R Thoroughbred's broodmare Hollaback Girl in his first crop, with two more foals due this spring. We're thrilled to see our Thoroughbred's family continue to grow!

It’s been an exciting week for Double R Thoroughbreds! We are delighted with our purchase, in conjunction with Busuttin Racing, from the world-famous New Zealand Bloodstock yearling sale at Karaka – a sensational looking filly by champion sire So You Think out of the stakes winning mare Illuminati. The filly will have a well-earned break prior to commencing her education process in New Zealand, then head across the Tasman to the trusted stables of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young at Cranbourne in Victoria 🐎🙌

While we feel extremely fortunate that our current developments, Aspect at Gympie and Hamilton Place at Woodford, have not been heavily impacted by the floods, we’re thinking of all those who now have a long road to recovery.

Double R Group works with amazing people and businesses who help make our visions become a reality. We would like to introduce you to Skyline Surveyors and their Director and Consulting Cadastral Surveyor Corey James. Let’s find out a bit more about Corey...

Where did you grow up and what school did you go to?
I’m a Queenslander through and through where I spent my early school years in Sunshine Beach, Innisfail, Gold Coast and then most of my high school years at St Patricks in Gympie.

What is your role and what are your key responsibilities?
I’m the Principal Surveyor for a number of Double R Group projects and this involves providing advice and surveying for land and building subdivisions.

What do you love most about your job?
The diversity of work certainly keeps things interesting. No two days are ever the same. My team are great people to work with. And the clients who value what we do (like Double R Projects!) make it all the more worthwhile.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A good reputation will follow you from job to job, but a bad reputation will beat you there.
