This is Misty the Italian Greyhound having its first meeting doing the full course yesterday at Wally Tate park. Misty has done a few meetings doing a half course just to make sure Misty only stops chasing when the Lure stops, we didn't want Misty to stop while the lure was still moving and it worked, just look at the speed Misty maintains all the way around the course. Well done to this great little dog.

This German Shepherd was given a beginners run first up in the morning yesterday at Wally Tate park and was just so keen, so the owner entered it for a full run, was just as keen on the full run.

Another perfect day of lure coursing at Wally Tate park today. The weather was kind to us today with a little rain when we first got to the ground but it cleared up to a beautiful sunny day which made the field great for fast running dogs.
The course today was a fast open course of just under 600m, I think the word got out about the fast course because we had just so many Whippets turn up to run and they really enjoyed the open fast course with some really great runs.
The car parking under the power pylongs has certainly helped with the parking problem, with alot of cars parking there today and I noticed there were a couple of gazebo's set up over there with nibbles on tables. That area will always be set up for parking from now on.
Great to see a lot of new people trying lure coursing out today with their dogs and I'm sure they will be back as there were some really good runs from their dogs, I know their dogs will be pleading with the owners to bring them back.
Thanks once again to all the helpers today, with a lot of dogs there it made the day go very smoothly.
Thank you to the people who put their hand up to be trained as judges, you all enjoy the judging side of the sport.
I will post a few videos I took today over the next couple of days.
So a very successful day.
See you on the course.

Don't forget to pick up a copy of the Pursuit on Sunday as this month there is a picture of the Basset Hound pack run at our last 100m sprint on the front cover ( which has over 155,000 views on FB ) and also all the top speeds of the dogs at the 100m sprint are listed in the Pursuit, as well as the June Lure coursing results and if that is not enough the history of the QLCA part 2 is there as well, so will be a great read.
see you on the course.

The 100m sprint meeting on the 19th of July unfortunately will have to be moved to a later date as the Capalaba Greyhound track has not fully recovered from the last flood and would not stand a 120 plus dogs on it in July. As you saw at the last sprint there the track is still very soft and they race Greyhounds there very Sunday so need the track to be a lot firmer to put a 120 dogs on it the day before a Greyhound race meeting.
Lets hope the weather is on our side so the track firms up so we can have the sprint in August.

WOW, who would have thought the Basset Hound pack run on Saturday at Capalaba would be such a big hit on Facebook.
137,700 views so far, thats right 137,700 views and still increasing.
Many thanks to the Basset Hound club for bringing so many Bassets along to let them have such a fun day out in the QLCA relaxed laid back atmosphere.

What a sight, just as a drizzel of rain came in the last Basset Hound pack run was off and running yesterday at Capalaba Greyhound track.
This was a great spectacle, a pack of Basset Hounds thundering down to the finish line, much to the delight of the crowd who cheered them on.

Well it seemed like we had the 4 seasons today at the 100m sprint, light drizzel off and on then the sun came out off and on which made it quite hot then the clouds came over cooling it down, then the cycle started over again.
With well over 100 dogs including the Bassets running today it was a very busy day but we got a time on every dog ( that made to the finish line) and a couple of owners running with their dogs as well. The new timing system never missed a dog.
There was some great top speeds as well which surprised a few owners, we are the first club to do this so still learning about the speed gun. This time we took the speeds at the start and found most dogs reach their top speed before the 50m mark then the speed fell away.
What about the Basset pack runs, wasn't it just the best sight watching the Bassets enjoying themselves chasing those plastic bags. There was alot of wagging tails at the end of the run and I'm sure they will be back. Have videos of the Basset pack runs so will post them.
The Greyhound track is still quite soft and still has not fully recovered from the floods so many thanks to the Capalaba Greyhound club for letting so many dogs run on their track.
Thanks to all the helpers today, a busy day.
Another very enjoyable day and I'm sure the dogs would agree as well.

Going to be a great day at the 100m sprint on Saturday.
Just a couple of things to remember. If you have a pedigree dog and you are not a club member and didn't bring a copy of the dogs papers ( the number on the pedigree papers will do) to the last sprint or it is your first time please bring a copy of the dogs papers.
As always we need a couple of helpers on the day, someone to close the gate into the catching area and catchers for people who do not have one.
Otherwise everything is ready to go, looking forward to see the top speeds and times of the dogs.
see you there.
