It was a great evening of lure coursing last night at Wally Tate park.
Due to the large number of entries we started half and hour early for the beginner and puppy runs which worked well. Thanks to Lewis for operating the lure for the puppies and beginners.
I must also make mention of Xiu Jing who ran the bike and lure for all the dogs during the evening. Xiu Jing used to run the bike a lot but now lives overseas and is back on holiday, she certainly hasn't lost her touch, controlling the lure on the bike expertly for every dog. Well done.
The cool breeze helped when the sun went down which showed in the many great runs around the course.
Well that was the last meeting of the year and a very successful one. We don't run in January so our next meeting will be February next year and a night meeting as well.
Next year is the clubs 35th anniversary so going to be a busy year.

It is with huge sadness that we have been advised that Mark Freebairn (SEQLCC) passed away this morning. He will be sadly missed and will leave a huge hole in both clubs. Our thoughts are with Caroline and his family at this time.

The Whippets are dressed up in their best Christmas clothes, very well tied on. the little father Christmas jockeys certainly got a wild ride.

The new timing system got a good work out today at the 100m sprint run by the SEQLCC as part of their Christmas breakup festivities near Toowoomba and I'm pleased to report the new timing system worked perfectly for both rounds.
The timing system got every dog, even the small Dachshund's so the days of using a stop watch as back up are over, this system is that good.
It was a good day, the SEQLCC put on a great day at a great venue.
The owners of the venue were very impressed with how the 100m sprint was run and the different dogs running even bringing out 3 of their Greyhounds to run the 100m sprint.
I would say we have another club that will be running BOTS 100m sprint meetings next year.

I thought I would put the Unregistered large results up first as I know Mark will be so proud of his big boy Buck being the fastest over 100m in Australia.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks just love lure coursing, sometimes they just drag their owners to the start line, they are that keen to chase.
Watch this Ridgeback as it is always watching the lure, Knows where the lure is all the time as it is hunting it during the chase.
Good to watch.

This Fox Terrier put in a really keen determine run, stretching right out trying to chase the lure down on Saturday night at Ferny Grove

Mark who was operating the lure on Saturday evening at Ferny Grove had his work cut out to see this small black dog on the other side of the field. The field drops away quite a bit on the far side, but the dog put in a very good run which helped Mark with the lure. Very keen was this dog.

This Beagle never puts in a bad run and as you can see can speed up at will when the lure gets close. Good to see Beagles excelling at Lure coursing.

The dog I think enjoyed the cool evening the most on Saturday evening at Ferny Grove was our favorite Bassett Hound "Fonzie" Love the way he gives me a quick side ways look as he goes past as if to say " hope you are getting my good side". A joy to watch

Will I, won't I, will I, won't I, Ok I'll run just to show everybody how fast I am. It was great to see so many Whippets last night at Ferny Grove and all enjoying the cool evening.

This is a new breed to lure coursing for the QLCA. It is an Yakutian Laika an ancient working dog breed from the Arctic seashore of the Sakha Republic. This is Soren's second meeting and enjoying the chase and improving with every run. Isn't great to see these quite rare dogs enjoying themselves on the lure coursing field

Great to see all the Whippet puppies in the puppy runs on Saturday evening at Wally Tate park. This whippet showed the puppies "this is what you will be old enough to do soon" This is the last video I took. see you all on the 2 November, ad coming soon.
