Roseneath Horse Breaking and Training

A horse training facility for starting and re-training young horses, specialising in racing thorough There is also a vet on site for any emergencies.

Established in 2017 by Matt and Ali Gollan, Roseneath has been designed for the safe education of young horses. Boasting large stables with day yards, sand round yard, arena, training track and jump out barriers. Matt enjoys giving young horses a fantastic grounding and the best start possible. With a calm approach to teaching the fundamental skills they will need in order to reach their maximum p

otential in their future career. Matt has grown up with horses and has been a horsemen all his life starting early in a career of trick riding as a "Flying Gollan" when he was still at school. His true passion though lies in horse breaking, especially racing thoroughbreds, and he is dedicated to always learning new and better approaches in order to achieve a great outcome for the horses and their owners.

The first foal bred at Roseneath was born yesterday and she is a little cracker!!
From a warm blood stallion by a quarter horse mare .
This lovely Palamino filly will have very bright future for sure,and we here at Roseneath breaking and training are as proud as punch😁.

Hi everyone!
After a bit of a false start to the year with some injuries Matt is back to 100 percent health and is now taking on horses again for breaking in and educating young horses.
All breeds are welcome, and have the best of care whilst under our watch.

Hey all I have taken off my work hat and put my Xmas hat on!

This year sent plenty of curve balls our way out here at Roseneath breaking and training but we rode them out!

Sincere thanks to all you horse owners out there who have trusted us with your beautiful animals this year.

I can’t wait to meet the next crop of youngsters early in the new year!!

Ali will give me no rest and is cracking the whip on me to complete the extension on our lovely old house as well!.
No rest for the wicked!!

Thanks very much again to our loyal clients.

Having a bit of fun on this little champion whilst in lockdown!

This handsome guy is a three year old paint gelding we bought as a weanling 2 years ago,his name is ‘Time’ but we call him spot.
This was only his second jumping lesson this morning and he nailed it.
I am not sure who had more fun, me or him!!
He is extra quiet and well mannered, he will hopefully take over as my lead pony for my breakers one day when my old mate willow gets past it.
He is a cracking sort, easy to do everything with,tries as hard as he can and is as game as Ned Kelly!
He is a valued part of our family out here at Roseneath Breaking and Training..

It was frosty start to the day out here at Roseneath Breaking and Training this morning!!
It was a wee bit chilly up on the arena as the sun came up🥶!!

Zipper is a lovely 14 year old paint/quarter horse gelding who was broken in as a 2year old and only ridden a handful of times in between with a couple of bad experiences.
He has been at Roseneath 3 weeks for some experience and re training.
The big guy has progressed rapidly and is now happy to have a saddle thrown on and ridden out for a long trail or road ride quietly and calmly any time.
He will be going home soon with a great attitude!

We knew this girl would be a beauty when we heard her name was Stella!!
This lovely Palamino quarter horse/Arab mare came to Roseneath with some anxiety issues and nervousness under saddle. After a couple of weeks of confidence building exercises she has gone back home a much more relaxed horse and we hear she is doing well.

One of our favourite yearlings to be broken in out here at Roseneath Breaking and Training was our absolute stable favourite Ollie.
He was the quietest and best natured c**t ever broken in at Roseneath.

We have had a lot to do with the big guy,including Ali gelding him after he got a bit above himself, post breaking in.
In Training with Rob Quinn at Warwick farm.. I have seen his recent jump outs and he is flying!
Good luck with him Luke brown and owners.
And well prepared as always by The Grange at Woodville.

Carl has gone home to the lovely Dickinson family.
He is a very well bred showjumper who thought it would be a good idea to buck all the time,after a few bad experiences.
After a few weeks working on Carls brain and giving him plenty of new and pleasant experiences, he has forgotten all about bucking and now has a good attitude and a bright future.

Big shout out to my old partner Willow.
I wouldn’t know what to do without him!
He is a 15 year old stock horse I have had for 14 of those years. I must have ridden him thousands of times and he is my go to lead pony for all my breakers, and I ride him almost every day. I always make sure that I have led the youngsters off him before I first ride them as they all seem feed off his calmness. Amazingly patient he has taught Harps to ride and now Stella is in love with him and rides him. He has even been a trick riding horse called Tornado! travelling extensively.
He is part of the furniture out here at Roseneath and is worth his weight in gold.
