HOT WEATHER WARNING
The weather is warming up and it's important all pet owners are on alert for their pet's well being.

*Over 28 degrees you should be on HIGH alert. Heat stress is an emergency and can be fatal.

*Avoid exercising your pet in the heat (consider early morning or late evening/night time if the temperature allows)
*Ensure pets have constant access to cool, fresh water and shade or bring them into air conditioning if possible.
*Check your pets frequently
*NEVER leave pets unattended in hot cars.

Signs of heat stroke to watch out for:
*Hypersalivation
*Difficulty breathing
*Bright red gums
*Collapse

If you are concerned your pet is suffering from heat stroke, please call Maryborough Veterinary Practice on (03) 54 614466 immediately (or your nearest veterinary clinic)

What should you do?

Maryborough Veterinary practice is closed Friday 27th September 2024 for AFL Grand Final Public Holiday. 🏉

We have a Vet available for emergencies on 5461 4466. We will reopen on Saturday 28th September at 9am.

After coming into spring and with the weather warming up, means it is mating season for snakes. Snakes are already coming out of hiding and we would like to remind everyone of the potential signs to look out for in your pet, indicating they may have been bitten:
-Excessive drooling or frothing from the mouth
-Respiratory distress
-Tremor of the muscles
-Sudden weakness or collapsing
-Dilated pupils
-Paralysis
-Loss of bowel & bladder control
-Vomiting
If your pet shows any of these signs, give us a call on 5461 4466 and make your way immediately to your nearest vet.
The quicker they are treated the best chance for a positive outcome.
Dogs can show signs within 30 minutes of being bitten.
Cats can start to show symptoms much later.
If your pets are outside, consider their environment & clean away any woodpiles, corrugated iron & long grass.

Bingo is his name oh!

Poor bingo broke his tibia (shin bone) a few months ago. So Dr James repaired it with a locking plate and screws.

He’s now all healed up and can go back to running and playing 🐶
