Well this is my lucky last horse we have here, my beautiful “Thomas”.
He’s been here for a while, I initially was spelling him post racing and was keeping another that I had company until he went to his new home & cause he’s just one that goes with the flow he’s then just sat here.
“Fournaise” is a big persionality & what I call a serious horse. Serious horses like their person, like their routine, love a job and don’t need much fuss. He come up for his rug, comes up for his feed and then happily grazes alone all day long. He’s a horse that feels bigger than he is, moves amazingly with his free flowing, up hill action & just covers the ground effortlessly.
He did have a tendon injury probably two years ago now, was spelled and then had a hand full or so of racing starts after that but had no interest. He was a great little race horse in his prime.
Tom would need a confident handler to see through his tough man act & had the ability to bring him back in after his long spell.
He’d suit someone looking for a dressage mount, adult riding mount. Could jump but I’d not look at letting him go as a pure eventer.
If you’re keen to meet him, feel free to touch base with me. Open to offers from the right home

“FOURNAISE”
Sire: Puissance De Lune
Dam: Eruption
6yo 16hh bay gelding
Retired recently after 36 starts 5-3-1
‘Tom’ as he’s affectionately known as around here retired recently after a handy career racking up 5 wins and some placings. After putting a hole in his tendon back in November 2021, he’s came back and had 9 more starts but just hasn’t had the form.
His tendon has been rescanned recently & is still fine but trainer feels he’s anticipating something happening again and Jocky’s report he just doesn’t seem to let go on the final run.
Tom is an absolute stunner in the flesh & boy can he move, like wow!
He is a big boy & probably measures around the 16hh mark but he’s that uphill type that when your with him feels more like 17hh, he just a horse that’s got that really big presence about him & moves big too.
Now for all his sexiness he knows he’s a bit flash and has the s***k to go with it- definitely fancies himself, he’s not a horse for the light hearted but hey if you’ve got that experience to put in the ground work and bring him back from cloud nine he’s a horse that’s going to wow. Asside from the jokes he really is just a horse that needs a good solid groundwork foundation to harness his excitement to show off and give him the confidence to come down as well as be up.
He travelled well in my rear facing angle, never been straight loaded.
On the ground, he’s big & he knows his big, he’s in your face, over friendly, meets you at the gate, try’s to sit in your lap, pushy at times, will try to pull you along a bit. But having said that he literally catch’s your in the paddock, stands with no halter to be rugged & unrugged & just wants to be your mate. He’s definitely a people’s horse.
Under saddle he has no nasty but is apparently as strong as an ox 🐂! Again this is something that can be fixed with a solid foundation of groundwork and off the grain.
I have definitely noticed a change in his presence in the last few days just off the feed- currently on grass hay and chaff (no oats), he now walks to the gate to meet me instead a fast cantering & skid stop.
Tom would suit an experienced off the track thoroughbred home (absolutely no exception there). He’d excel in showing, dressage, arc, show jumping* or eventing*, anything really.
He does really need a good spell & id suggest mid way through the spell starting on his groundwork before even looking at putting him back under saddle.
He is currently spelling, shod & rugged.
