Savvy ~ 2014-2025.
Start of 2015 I started my own business as a dog trainer. My first client was a 5 month old Rottweiler puppy. When I got there the client told me the pup had actually been given to her because her original owner couldn’t keep her. The client was elderly and had other adult Rottweilers who were aggressive towards the pup so the pup had been pretty much in a cage since her arrival.
She had decided to find another home for the pup but given the circumstances I offered to foster her and help rehome her instead.
So I put her on the passenger seat of my car and headed home.
On the way home she vomited so much she covered us both in it and filled my cars centre console. When we got home I got in the shower with her to wash us off. My husband came home and found me sitting on the shower floor holding a terrified, wet, smelly rotti and said ‘sooo first day went well?’ 🫣
In the following weeks I remember saying ‘this dog doesn’t have much of a personality’… but then she got comfortable, her anxiety from her crappy start to life began to heal and she showed her true colours- and then we fell in love🥰 We decided to keep her. We called her Savvy- short for Sauvignon Blanc🥂
During this time I went through my own rough patch having miscarriages, Savvy could sense from anywhere in the house if I was having an upset moment and she would come and find me and press her head into my chest and just wait there with me. Turns out I needed her just as much as she needed me.
She immediately loved Bailey and Snickers and they became the most gorgeous trio. She helped with our foster dogs and when we had a whole litter of pups whose mum was struggling she helped clean the pups and played with them as they grew.
She also helped with an orphan goat we cared for and would play with her, let her stand on her back and sleep in her bed❤️
