It is with great sadness but also much excitement for my family that it is time to say goodbye to the Meandarra and surrounding communities. Time has come for WDVS to cease operation and move north.

I want to thank you for your support, friendship and business over the last 4 years. I have enjoyed being welcomed into your homes and onto your farms, working with you and helping treat all your large and small animals. Take care and thank you!

16/01/2023

WDVS will be unavailable this Thursday 19th and Friday the 20th due to travelling to attend a funeral. Thanks for your understanding and continued support.

***Paying of accounts****
If clients could please stick to the 7 day terms on bills that would be appreciated. I am a very small business and have deadlines with suppliers.

All outstanding accounts need to be finalised by Friday 16th December 2022.

From January 1st 2023, small animal consultation will need to be paid for at the time of service, and will no longer be 7 day terms.

Woo! After 5 weeks of not being mobile, WDVS is now officially back on the road! Only need Webby mechanical to add a snorkel and we shouldn’t have an issue again 💦🌊👍

Huge shout out to Webby mechanical and Murph for getting me back on the road in a timely manner once insurance decided the outcome.

Even though I’m back on the road, this will be until Friday 16th December, when I take a break to enjoy our first Christmas as a family of 3.

Thanks again for everyone’s continued support and understanding as I still navigate business ownership and a baby! It is greatly appreciated.

During this time I’ll only be available via phone. Taking a quick break to relax and recharge before coming back and working until baby Keane arrives late June 2022.

Cancer eye (ocular squamous cell carcinoma) is a common form of cancer in cattle. It is common for only one eye to be affected. Occasionally these progress and the eye needs to be removed.

Last week I was called to see a cow with this condition, it had been going on for sometime so the best treatment was enucleation (removal of the eye).

This involved giving the cow sedation, local anaesthetic, long acting antibiotics and pain relief. Firstly, her eyelids where sutured together and then the tissue around the eye debride, and her eye removed. As this cow had lost vision from the cancer, she coped well with having the eye removed and was happily back in her paddock that afternoon.

** Honesty/reality post **

This week has been one of very mixed experiences for me as a vet. I have had some very lovely exisiting and new clients that are appreciative for any help or assistance they can have. They have also been very understanding that I’m a single vet mobile service so sometimes I’m busy with a client and can’t get to them immediately.

But on the other hand I have also had phone calls being told if I was an old school vet and really cared I’d do the job for free because I should love animals…fortunately our vet profession is actually filled with vets that have taken this career path because of their love for animal. However, owning an animal does come with responsibility. I am your vet, the receptionist, the accountant for the business etc. I have overheads that have to be met and without paying clients I simply could not continue on and survive in this profession, survive to make a living or want to show up everyday. So please be kinds with the words you throw at the vet profession and staff as we do care and love animals but we simply aren’t able to wear the costs of clients not wanting to pay.

I’d like to say thank you to my lovely and understanding clients for your continued support. Thank you for being caring, offering a cuppa or lunch after jobs, treating me like a friend, trusting me with the care of your animals and taking extra special care of me in their cattle yards knowing I’m pregnant. You sure do outweigh the bad and for you I’m very grateful. I hope you have a lovely and relaxing weekend with friends and family. 🐾🐮🐴❤️

Meet Ralph, Ralph is a beautifully natured 16 week old Australian cattle dog.

Yesterday morning Ralph tried to take on a car and came off second best. Luckily for ralph and his owner, he only sustained some bruising and superficial lacerations. Luckily no broken bones.

After pain relief, IV fluids and monitoring, you can see ralph was ready to return home after tearing up his bed and pulling out his IV catheter. Ralph will be having some quiet time at home over the next few days to continue to allow his body to heal.

Appreciation post!

This cake was given to me by a beautiful lovely client/friend today and has really made my day. Living interstate and away from my family has made some points this year very challenging. In the last 4 months I have lost two very special grandparents, and Covid has prevented me from saying farewell. Today a thoughtful client baked this cake as a pick me up.

I appreciate all my clients so much, especially as over the last 2.5years a lot of you have become friends and my Queensland family. So thank you very much your continued support of my small business 😊

28/11/2021

WDVS will be unavailable between 9-11am this Thursday the 2nd December to virtually attend my grandpa’s funeral. Thank you for your understanding during this time.

According to the Telstra website this outage is expected to
not be resolved until Tuesday 30th November. I’m sorry that this is out of my control and am struggling to get back in contact with the clients that have contacted me.

27/11/2021

The Telstra network around Meandarra is experiencing an interruption to service/network outage. So I apologies to those that have tried to contact WDVS over the last 24 hours. We currently have limited internet, so best to contact through a FB private message until service is restore. Thanks.
