** Honesty/reality post **
This week has been one of very mixed experiences for me as a vet. I have had some very lovely exisiting and new clients that are appreciative for any help or assistance they can have. They have also been very understanding that I’m a single vet mobile service so sometimes I’m busy with a client and can’t get to them immediately.
But on the other hand I have also had phone calls being told if I was an old school vet and really cared I’d do the job for free because I should love animals…fortunately our vet profession is actually filled with vets that have taken this career path because of their love for animal. However, owning an animal does come with responsibility. I am your vet, the receptionist, the accountant for the business etc. I have overheads that have to be met and without paying clients I simply could not continue on and survive in this profession, survive to make a living or want to show up everyday. So please be kinds with the words you throw at the vet profession and staff as we do care and love animals but we simply aren’t able to wear the costs of clients not wanting to pay.
I’d like to say thank you to my lovely and understanding clients for your continued support. Thank you for being caring, offering a cuppa or lunch after jobs, treating me like a friend, trusting me with the care of your animals and taking extra special care of me in their cattle yards knowing I’m pregnant. You sure do outweigh the bad and for you I’m very grateful. I hope you have a lovely and relaxing weekend with friends and family. 🐾🐮🐴❤️
