Finally bought my rider video from the last comp. I know I made some mistakes position wise but had sooooo much fun it didn't matter. It was controlled (even in a flat put gallop which I threw in for fun). Couldn't ask anything more from my ex hurdler lol

Finally got around to doing our first horse trails. Dude loved it so much.
I had the wrong time on my watch which meant we didn't have time to warm up for dressage yet still managed a 63.1% even i know we could have done much better.
We nailed it at showjumping by getting an all clear and third fastest out of my division.
And today we did cross country which I was most nervous about since I've never competed xc before but we did everything with ease (only trotting through the water and over the ditch and down a hill 😅) and yet got time penalties for going too fast (we might of galloped a bit 😆) it was really fun. He is such a good honest boy and even after galloping to the next fence I could slow him down easily to jump. Think we will definitely be doing grade 3 next time!!! The dressage mark is what probably put us behind other riders and going a bit too fast on xc (is there such a thing 🤔)

We competed at boneo today (finally) which has the most fantastic grounds 😍. I was very happy with my plaiting (besides the forelock which I haven't mastered yet 😅). He did really well in both tests achieving a 65.4% in our first test (already a record) AND THEN we got 69.57% for our second test with predominantly 7's with some 8's!! Feels amazing to get these results since we have both been working very hard. Thanks Sarah for a great day out 🥰

Had another spin round maccy hickstead course with Edith Kane instructing. He was super and my position got so much better from just one lesson. He jumped everything including trotting and jumping into and out of water!!! So happy with this boy ❤❤❤❤

As I was cuddling my pony crying of all the stresses of the world, of all the hard work I put in to pursue my love of horses, of all the complaints of how hard I push myself, in the end it is all worth it. He is worth it... though he stood there today unmoving and not making a sound he is the support I always need to push through...

Over the weekend we competed at the West Gippsland dressarge and showjumping. Definitely improving. The jumping pics were from the other weekend as I'm still waiting for this weekends one to come out 😄 couldn't have done it without the help of Kate and Lisa floating him there for me and supporting so thank you.

Happy gotcha day!!! Over one year we have both grown so much and I can't imagine my life without you. Of just one year we have attended various pony club and adult riders rallys, pony club camp, heaps of trail rides, so many lessons and much much more. Love him so much. Pictures taken today, looking amazing!!!

What a week I've had. Dressarge at shirley heights on wednesday AND dressarge and showjumping over the weekend at wittlesea showgrounds. I was happy with our dressarge tests at both events but still alot to practise.
My highlight was definitely the showjumping as it was our first time we had competed in sj yet we did super. Came 6th place in the 2phase and knocked a couple rails in the 2round jump off due to being a little tiered in the 30 degree heat which of course is understandable. Will share the professional photos once I get them.

Had great fun at Cockatoo Pony Club with a twilight rally today. Had a go at various games, show jumping and a nice ba****ck trail ride down to the creek. 😍

So I finally bought myself a pivo and today was the first time properly using it. It has given me the ability to see how I'm riding from the camera lens so I can improve. Although there were things about today's ride that I need to fix there were many good moments. So excited to continue using the pivo 😁

What a wonderful day for a trail ride. Only had one melt down as there was some water we had to go through. Ended up walking through almost a meter of water unmounted (after I spend ages cleaning all my gear yesterday 🙄). Oh well.

Today me and Dude had our Christmas gymkanah at Cockatoo pony club. We had such an amazing day with great weather and a super pony who has been getting better and better every day. Words cannot describe how happy I am with this horse 🤩🤩🤩🤩.

Today Dude and I ventured out to kangaroo grounds for a dressage comp. Despite the test not going as well as I'd hoped it was great to finally get out to our first comp. He was very well behaved and will be enjoying a couple days rest.
I just wanted to say a big thank to Sarah and to Kate for all the support and making it all possible.

We ventured off to our first adult riders rally today in Macclesfield. First with a dressarge lesson and then finished it off with a poles/jump lesson. He behaved so well and was eager to have a jump after so long. Very different environment than pony club but still just as good. Can't wait for their cross country to open when the ground dries up a bit.

So after our ride today I decided to take his gear off in the arena and leave him there while I cleaned up. He stayed in the same spot for about 10 minutes and even when I sat 20 meters away from him on the ground meditating he still didn't move for a further 20 minutes. Finally after I changed to standing up for a while he personally choose to come over to me which was the aim. I was hoping that we could both fall into a relaxed sleepy mood and where he could freely choose when he was ready to come over to me.
Even when I got to his paddock to get him he walked to me away from all the fresh grass which is very special as he loves food ALOT (Plus it meant I didn't have to walk very far😅).

So happy with da boy today i feel like we are flying over mountains!! now for our first adult riding rally on Saterday, squeeze in my year 12 formal on Saterday night, pony club on Sunday and hopefully we will be able to make it to our first dressarge comp on 25th 🤞

Had such an amazing session with Dude tonight!!! Can't wait to get back into pony club, start adult riders and compete at our first dressage comp near the end on November!!! Love my new black saddle pad, whip and gloves too.

Today my amazing instructor Kate Van Elmpt came out to do a bit of a freshen up training session with Dude. I always find it very interesting watching him from the ground and talking through the way he carries himself and how to help him when he gets a bit lost. Lots of fun can't wait for our next session!!!

Dude is looking very handsome at the moment. Finally going quite well undersaddle and at a good weight, can't wait to start lessons again soon.

Despite the wet weather I still managed to fit in a ride. With puddles and poles we worked on direction and transitions which was a bit of fun. He is turning into quite a nice dressarge pony 🤣

I have started bringing Dude back into work after a little break and wow what a difference it has made. This is the first time I have asked for walk to canter transitions and despite the wind, kids, dogs and bobcat working near the arena, he was super quite and after a couple tries he does it perfectly. The other video is there to show the different 8 months has made for the both of us.

This weekend I moved Dude to yet another agistment. First ride in arena with all that wind and he took everything in his stride. Can't wait to have a ride out and about the trails again too.

Had a bit of a jump today focusing on dude being forward and responsive through transitions and over the jumps. Was lots of fun and very progressive.

Throughout the week I have been focusing on having a relaxed canter, reteaching pressure and release with the whip (without him shutting down), and building connection. I finally had a little canter ba****ck after our warm up on the ground and took him out for a short trail ride to get him more relaxed as he can get quite nervous. Overall so proud of our achievements.

Due to yet another lockdown our dressarge comp was postponed. So insteaf we had a jump today. His progress is astounding from leaping poles stressfully to jumping with a more confident mind. Great progress after not jumping for a few weeks.

I'm so happy with our current progress. Had an awesome lesson with Kate Van Elmpt yesterday, used my new favourite saddle pad and got to wash him before the rain hits in the new couple of days. Super star 🥰🤩
