We are blown away by the results of our latest Canny Challenger 🧡

Poppy's owner, Rachael, had reached the stage where Poppy was too strong for her to walk far, and she worried she was going to be pulled over and injured.

Since completing the challenge, both Poppy and Rachael have enjoyed longer walks. Poppy now sees her Canny Collar as a source of excitement and Rachael feels like the bond between them has strengthened.

Treating diabetes in dogs can be complex. The good news is that provided the condition is quickly diagnosed, the majority of dogs respond well to treatment.

🐶 This International Dog Day 2023 let us champion the unsung heroes. The dog rescuers. The tireless campaigners for the rights of all dogs the length and breadth of the country and beyond.

We pay particular homage to a dog rescue close to our roots and hearts in Manchester UK. Dogs 4 Rescue🧡

Based in Eccles, D4R was started in 2013 by Emma Billington. Emma, moved by the fate of dogs known to her who had suffered terrible abuse, gave up her job and started a doggy day-care. After grafting hard and making a success of her venture, Emma was able to buy a plot of land and bring to life her dream of a entirely kennel-free dog rescue.

Today D4R is redefining what a dog rescue looks like. When visiting, you can witness the power of pack rehabilitation. Dogs live together in complete freedom, barking is minimal, only heard through play or other healthy canine communication. The dogs play together, relax together and welcome newcomers in a calm and controlled manner.

If that wasn’t enough you get even more of a warm, fuzzy feeling by witnessing the 'Handicans' at play. These are the dogs who have been injured so severely that they have lost limbs. Had it not been for D4R their fate will likely have been death.

In 9 years D4R have re-homed over 1,700 dogs in the Greater Manchester area. They have recently secured a new 41 acre site where they plan to open ‘Rescue world’, a second kennel-free dog rescue and rehabilitation centre for the dogs that no one wants.
